Winding down an exciting evening first with some ER10, then moving onto some ETL 15yr.

The excitement was from a huge half of a tree that came down from the wind blocking the width of the street. Got to play traffic cop for most of the night. It was sad to see the number of people who clearly do not pay attention when driving.

WT8 again this evening it's really a pretty nice pour, why can't Turkey just go back to what it once was?

Heaven Hill 8 year. Can't get this one in Chicago and I've heard good reviews. At $9.99 for a 750ml it seemed like a no brainer. Delicious!! Been enjoying it neat and as a mixer with some ginger-ale. Might have to buy some to take back with me.

The HH 8 year is a home run, which they don't always do but they do keep swinging.

After dinner out at our favorite Thai place, Littlesmokinjoe, Mrssmokinjoe, and I sat down this evening to movie-night at the casa. Went with a Classic tonight of my choosing..."Fletch"... I roared with laughter all night, Mrssmokinjoe had a few snickers herself, and even Littlesmokinjoe got a kick out of it at times. Blanton's, FR1B, and GBSECBP were the pours of the night.

We put dinner on the Underhill's tab...:D

Why did Ford build the Edsel? Some questions defy a reasoned answer.

More RRSBSB. I really don't get why this received iffy reviews. I think this stuff is as good as ECBP and certainly Stagg Jr, despite the aura of those others

Spent the day moving our daughter in to her dorm for her 2nd year at the University...a mere 15 miles away but 3 car loads and 8 hours later  .

Rewarded the mission with a twilight Barton highball, heavy bitters and ginger, sipped with our great neighbors on their deck. Quick dinner with the bride at the local Mex joint and an ice cold Bohemia. Back home, a spectacular late summer evening, El Dorado 15, a 9 year Willett, ORVW 10 and 4R-BF recipe...of course, tiny pours only ;).

You know I bought this bourbon without reading anything about it and was shocked to see the hate on it. My bottle is absolutely delicious and stands out distinctively and deliciously amongst nearly any bourbon I put it head-to-head with. The nature of the single-barrel beast is variability though I suspect.

I wouldn't say hate exactly, that's an emotion I wouldn't waste on a foodstuff. I mean I dislike Brussels sprouts but I don't get emotional about them.

With whisky it's simply whether or not I like it tempered somewhat by whether or not I think it's worth the price tag.

Decided to do a comparison and finish off a couple of Heaven Hill distilled handles at completely different proofs...namely Dant BIB and EW 1783. I cut the Dant down to proof. I was expecting these to be nearly identical, but even the cut Dant BIB remained noticably more full bodied and complex in comparison.

Made a batch of equal 2oz parts of the following:

Binny's OBSO 10yr

Rutledge OESO 12yr 5mo

Rutledge OESK 11yr 11mo

P/C #1 OBSK 9yr 5mo

Proof came to 116.2...gonna let it blend for a bit and then see how the BP FRSmB comes out when equal parts are used. ;)

I cracked open a bottle of WT 80 proof with old brown label last night. This one is like the ones discussed in the following thread.

http://www.straightbourbon.com/forums/showthread.php?20177-Wild-Turkey-80-proof-Old-Brown-Label

After reading the thread, I wasn't expecting much from it and made a small pour. I was actually pleasantly surprised at how well it drank. This bottle had an intact but crumbled cork. I could smell the content even before opening it. The corked fell apart when I opened it. Had to strain/filter and move the content into another bottle. I had another decent pour of this before moving on to a pour of BMH.

As I was just saying that the BMH has opened up after being opened a few months and tasting better, it was totally outclassed by the WT80 that I had before it. I actually couldn't finish this pour of BMH. I went back to another pour of the WT80 to finish the night. I obviously didn't have the WT80 in presence of others that are on my better list but it was surprising how well it showed against BMH!

Dang Joe. You always do this to me. First it was, " I did blah, blah, blah...now enjoying some refrigerated HHBIB". So I went and bought some, did the refrigerator thingy and said " holy shite, that's a kickbooty summer pour, and damn good bourbon to boot."

Now you get into the MC thing, and I'm thinking " I have a couple family sized bottles in the bunker and I've kind of forgot about them this summer..for what ever reason. Dang that sounds good." So I pop a bottle, and all is good in this world and in Piqua.

You are the BOTY for a reason. .:thankyousign:

:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:
