Moved on to some KC SB from TPS. I'm not sure what happened to the KC of my youth, but I will be glad when this bottle is gone. :-)

A neat pour of A Jefferson's Reserve 15 yr. The nose is refreshing and clean. Not, heavy at all considering it's age. Fresh cut hay. Really nice. Goetze's Caramel Cream candy dominates over the palate. Quick burst of spice on the finish, then it slowly drifts away. As in the nose, this whiskey does not negatively show it's 15 years in wood. This is gorgeous whiskey. I would take this 15 yr over any of the Jefferson Pres. 17,18, and beyonds, of recent years.

A mini of Early Times 354 - bought a couple to give it a try. It's OK, but won't be buying - starts out OK, a bit sweet on attack, then straight forward corn/brown sugar & a little spice. Youth really comes through on the finish. Much better with ice, which is not my thing but in this case improved it by cooling off/diluting that finish. Too bad they couldn't give this another couple of years, but then again that probably just makes it a VOB 80.

Had some ER then moved to CEHT SmB. Very different profiles but equally enjoyable. Just easy drinking. Gonna finish with a recent WTKS.

Usually not much of a mixer with my bourbon but the last couple of days have been exceptions. Crushed an apple with a pinch of cinnamon, a pinch of nutmeg, a half a ginger beer, 2 ounces of Willett 4 year Rye, and 2 ounces of Bulleit Rye.

A decidedly Fall drink for a pretty Fall-like day in the PNW.

Finished the evening with some 80 proof Benchmark which is alright neat but really shines with a glass full of ice and ginger ale.

Some Baby Saz which was not sitting right.........more air.

SO I switched to OWA NAS and it worked out much better.

Old Weller Antique 7yo 107prf gold vein Louisville bottle, neat.

Should have mixed that with diet Coke.

Any source guess on that one? Assume its a rye based bourbon.

Enjoying my first 4R LE the 2013 SB and it was quite an educational pour!! Damn I love learning stuff and if its accompanied by a delicious bourbon, so much the better!!

Following the 2013 SB with a OBSO GS release, hey as long as I am in a learning mode might as well throw in another variable to compare contrast. Great stuff and another of the 10 recipes I can call a favorite.

Just returned after a week in Bermuda with DW. American whiskies at the restaurants we visited were pretty much limited to JBW and JD. Islands with beaches tend to be much more rum-oriented, and that's okay.

After finishing unpacking and other return-home chores, I had a little pour of 4RSBLE 2013. It's a great whiskey; I can't wait for this year's SmBLE.

Tasting a little Stagg Jr. cut down to around 100 proof and working up some tasting notes for it. Honestly, I've never actually tried to write tasting notes before. But in doing so just now I've found that it certainly forces you to focus more intently on what you pick up. This may become a new routine...
