Yeah, that is right, this month we are going to do a poll to decide which whisky is the Foreign Whisky of the Month. Everyone can be involved a little, and I am not sure yet but may always carry over the 2 not chosen into the following poll which may or may not be the next month.

The poll will run for 4 or 5 days, give or a take a week .... :slappin::slappin::slappin:.

I do plan to try to make the polls hit on different styles, with at least one being on the less expensive side to get an entry level bottle. HP 12 seems pretty reasonable in most places, and of course their expressions go far and wide from there.

I voted for Highland Park but could've easily voted for either of the other two.

Highland Park in a no-brainer. To me it perfectly combines flavors from all Scottish regions into one superbly complex malt.

By Springbank are we talking the distillery or the expressions? I have more Longrows open than any other scotch at the moment, so that would work well for me, but that's likely to be the case in the future as well. I actually have a bottle of Talisker DE open right now too, my first bottle. I haven't revisited HP for a few years, so maybe it's time. Only problem is I prefer my malt at CS and NCF, which is not likely with HP.

Yeah, so I'll be happy enough with any of these, and all of them eventually.

Like the rest of you, I could've been happy with any of the choice but I chose SpringBank (includes Longrow/Hazelburn?)

Same here.

Any of the 3 would be a good choice but the HP offers something for everyone - from the beginner (12yo), to the whisky nerd (18-25 year range plus "limited" releases) to the uber rich (30+ years).

I had thought when picking Springbank that it would be just that and not Longrow. I'd kind of like to play it that way because planned to throw Longrow in the mix later, but could be swayed. We'll decide it if it wins.

...kind of hard for me to talk about Longrow w/o mentioning Springbank. Still, I think they merit their own independent discussion.

I was leaning that way too, although its kind of hard for me to talk about Longrow w/o mentioning Springbank. Still, I think they merit their own independent discussion.

...also Hazelburn. I don't really care if we keep them all separate or not, but the fun thing about these is the dramatic difference peat, and distillation technique can alter the end product.

Hey Christian, is it necessary to close out FWotM threads when the month ends? Might be nice to have the opportunity to add to the discussion over time. I didn't get a chance to drink any Balvenie in June, but I do plan on it in the future, and I'd love to share my thoughts in the pertinent thread once I do.

It looks like we haven't always been consistent with doing so in the BoTM so I guess there really isn't any reason to other than I'd like to make sure the current one is always on top. I'll look into other avenues to ensure that is the case and agree it is probably a good idea to keep it open to promote others to join the discussion and learn from it.

un-sticky it and the current stickied month will always be on top
