Old Weller Orig 107 prf hand numbered

Hello all. My Dad would surely have loved this site. He was a Jim Beam loyalist for over 65 years. South Dakota farm boy, you know?

Anyhow he left me a very handsome bottle of Old Weller Original 107 proof bourbon (aged natural 7 years in wood).

I've read the dating procedures here on this site (very informative) but I think this bottle may have some other special value as it is hand numbered: No. 9808-A, in the upper left corner of the front label. It has a red tax(?) paper label with no numbers across the plastic screw on cap which only reads "distilled spirits", a UPC code on the back label, "750ml, 25.4 fl oz" embossed into the glass on the back and "16", "a square", "85", and then in reverse "a diamond" and "579" embossed into the bottom of the bottle's glass. The front has reflecting illustrations of the same man. The enitre bottle is covered with gold veining. It also has a descriptive hang tag attached to the neck with a small gold cord.

Can anyone help me establish a value? Your efforts and information are greatly appreciated.

Questions like this have been asked many a time on the board now and each time the general answer is it's worth what someone is willing to pay you for it... Our very informitive Chuck Cowdery has also posted about this same question several times before. Sorry if it's not the answer you were looking for but if you really want to get an idea of its value I would recommend listing it on ebay (with a reserve?) and get a feel for what people are willing to spend.

Mark, I have seen a couple of references to Ebay as a place to buy bourbon, but every time I check Ebay, all I see are empty bottles, decanters, etc. What specific category should I look at to find the drinking stuff?

I actually never search by a category... I use the search field and type in what I want being sure to check the box and look in both title and descriptions. It can be quite tedious but it yields better results. Honestly sometimes finding stuff on eBay can be hit or miss because so many people jsut don't know how to list their items properly.

I was looking at some of the stuff I have at home with mom at the farm , and it sounds just like a bottle that I stashed away ...might be intresting what someone thinks it worth , ( current retail of the same ?)
