Yep, the owner isn't relevant as long as product stays the same! Of course, if the owner changes, the Hendersons will do quite well. We need to toast the Hendersons for creating something a little different and quite excellent! :toast:

I will second that! Cracked open another AE rye to do so this evening. May follow it with some AE Cask Strength tomorrow. Haven't had any in a while so I am overdue!

The Bardstown operation isn't theirs, it's just the bottler they use. Some perspective. Best case scenario is they start distilling on a regular schedule in 2015. They'll start out small, maybe five to seven barrels a day, ramping up to the planned capacity of 35 barrels a day, maybe by 2017. They have a warehouse in Shively at one of the old distilleries with room to build a couple more. When they do get up to 35 barrels a day, it will take them about two years to fill a standard 20,000 barrel warehouse. If they're going to sell a six year old, that means they'll need a minimum of 3 warehouses.

They're setting up an unusual situation in which they'll distill the whiskey downtown, probably barrel-enter it there, truck it out to Shively to age, then when it's ready they'll truck it back downtown, where they'll dump and bottle it -- all the stuff the tourists want to see.

That's the plan, anyway, but we're probably talking 2021 before anything goes into a bottle, unless they're planning to sell some youngins.

I wouldn't get too worked up about any of it. A lot can happen over that period of time. A lot. One thing you can be sure of, however, is that they won't be aging it downtown due to the fire hazard. Wes Henderson is, after all, a volunteer fireman.
