Passing of Elmer T. Lee

Some say whiskey don't keep. Well, I do keep special bottles, and save them for needed occasions.

I've been keeping in the bunker a ETL 15yr single barrel that a member was kind enough to trade me some time ago.

Tonight, no finer a day to open it to honor a man who gave so much to the industry.

It's quite a fine pour. Might leave a little in the glass in case the man himself would like to give a visit.

I had a pour of this terrific 15 year ETL last night as well on account of this sad news. Too bad this 15 year was a one-off limited release. Amazing stuff. RIP Mr. Lee.

This goes along with Fishnbowl's post Joe, ACDetroit and I were all at the Barrel rolling contest when Tony says there is Elmer. I turn my head to the left and standing 2 feet behind us is Elmer and a friend. He was gracious enough to let us take pictures as you can see. ( I took the pictures) I hope the angels take as good of care of Elmer as they did his bourbon.

Truly a legend and a genuinely nice man by all accounts. I really enjoyed the thought of him visiting the distillery weekly to personally select the whiskey that bears his name.

Elmer T. was the real deal. A true Kentucky gentleman who loved his work, cared for his friends, and lived life to the fullest, always wearing that signature smile.
