OGD 114 in PA

Bad news: It's on closeout. Another great bourbon we won't be able to get here in "whiskey wasteland".

Wow, that's awful news. Are you close enough that you can get to another state fairly easily when those bottles run out?

I'm about 6 hours from Cincinnati/Newport, which would be the closest. I get there every few years, the bottles I bought today will have to see me through.

I saw this a few weeks ago when it first went on closeout. I bought a few so I have an ample supply until I can get more. I spoke last weekend to the Beam rep. for PA and he said he was very disappointed when the PLCB told him they were going to drop it. He said he is going to push to have it added as a special order item so we can still get it. We'll see if the retards in Harrisburg can do it. Just privatize already!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So i realize the control state thing varies from state to state, but is it really just some purchasing agent flipping a switch and saying no thanks? I would have to imagine demand had fallen to level where it wasn't as profitable as some other choice.

I bought Rare Breed on closeout in PA a few years back and it is still listed. I expect the same for the 114.

I wish I knew what makes them tick in PA, though I do miss grabbing Lot B. in Erie a few times a year.

I buy OGD 114 in PA because I can't get it in Ohio. There are still 12 bottles in Mercer County - hope some is left on Saturday when I'm out that way again

Just curious, what causes a control state to drop a specific whiskey? Is it based on volume? Is OGD 114 a good seller in PA?

I think it has more to do with phases of the Moon than anything as sensible as sales volume.

Yes, folks, it's really that bad here in PA. The state will only carry a set number of SKU's and when they want to add something, they cut something. Anotherwords, when the state wants to add another flavored vodka, there's a good chance a whiskey is getting cut since vodka sales and better than whiskey sales. There is little rhyme or reason as to what they add or cut and they really don't care. I mean, where else are PA residents going to legally shop for their alcohol?

Wow! I didn't know about the set number of sku's Ethan. That certainly offers a good explanation as to why the whiskey selection in this state is so abysmal. I hope a good privatization bill gets passed before Corbett's term is up, because I can see it being a long while before another push for privatization is made considering it has no bipartisan support.

Just passed through Maryland and PA - saw quite a bit of OGD 114 in Maryland if you are close enough to make a run to Maryland. Was actually impressed by several hole in the wall combination gas station/hotel/convenience/liquor stores in the middle of nowhere Maryland with very good bourbon selections.

In Indiana we don't have this problem but I would suspect that most controlled states would carry either OGD BIB or 114. For those in controlled states, is this generally true?

In Michigan we have the 80 and 114 available, no BIB.

I always thought Oregon only got the 80 and the BIB, both because I've never seen it and because its not on the price list. Walking around in the capitol I stopped in a liquor store and voila! OGD114!

So I guess we get it here. I'm glad to know this, I've been holding on to the last few drops I brought back from Arizona.
