Barrel_Proof
At this very moment in Louisville, Parker is probably drinking the new 1994 EWSB from the Erlenmeyer he used on Uber Nacht at the Gazebo!

pepcycle
Update on the Preview. Present: Ed, Patty, Marvin, Evelyn, Brenda, Chuck, Linda, John, and Mike V. Setting; The Kentucky Derby Museum The Program: Cocktails at 8PM till 8:30. Offerings:The EW 7Yr Black label, EC12, EC18 and EWSB'93. Food was appetizer stuff including cheeses, meatballs, mini hot browns, ham sandwiches, petite fours and other sweets. The group assembled in the theater at 8:30 and watched The Derby Video, Max Shapira made a speech and a Heaven Hill video was played. Max introduced key folks including Parker and Craig, some marketing folks, ops folks and four expert/critics: Lew Bryson, Kate Ennis, Robert Plotkin and Stuart MacLean Ramsay. With a full barrel of the whiskey on stage, The Heaven Hill dignitaries thieved out shots and made a toast. Waitresses passed out shot glasses of the new bourbon to the crowd from another source. They were generous and put several extras at our table. We all tasted and then mingled around the room comparing notes. We hung out and managed to get some directly from the barrel. We hung out until around 10:30 and then headed for the door. All attendees got a little gift bag with a EWSB julep cup, a 50 ml ewsb '93, an EW cigar and some mint julep mix in nice cloth sack with a draw string. Several members of the group continued the festivities back at the hotel, but I was looking at an hour plus drive back to Lexington and headed out. The general consensus was the '94 was a significant improvement over the '93 and more in line with previous vintages of note like the '90 and '88. More oomph, less green corn. I'll post tasting notes in a bit. Pretty good for the first official Bardstown Bourbon Society Event. I'll attend the next one.
brendaj
Ed, I agree, it was a great evening. Good presentation, everyone was accessible, and they certainly didn't want anyone to be hungry or thirsty... I also agree that the 94 is a better pour. I purposely had a shot of the 93 infront of me when they brought it. No contest. IMHO, Marvin hit it on the nose when he said "lots of caramel apple". It was good to see ya'll, we gotta find a reason to do it again soon. Bj
bourbonmed
Here is the press release on the '94 edition. I just noticed they have modified their claim: the only vintage dated 'single' barrel bourbon in the market. This takes into account new annual vintages like Birthday Bourbon, Stagg, and Antique Collection.Omarhttp://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/031022/clw008_1.html

jbutler
And speaking of Marvin ... We should have a contest to caption a few of these pictures EWSB Preview
brendaj
And speaking of Marvin ... I gotta admit, Marvin was looking pretty cool (and Evelyn had on an outfit the same color as her eyes... ). He made a helleva target for that photographer... I was sitting beside him, and I bet I had to duck and dodge half a dozen times... Check out the brim of his hat in the second shot with Max...a friend of mine tells me that's how you can tell when a man is having a good time... Paradox
I think he is referring to Parker drinking out of the flasks he (Cliff) brought to the Gazebo that Frday night Marvin. in plain English? (layman's terms to the uneducated). Hey, I feel that way sometimes too Marvin reading a few posts around here I need to go and get my damn dictionary to translate some of the words! AmeliaC
What was Parker drinking, Does any one know? He is so cool.
boone
I saw Kass opening a EWSB to fill their cups... I found one cup and gave it to Linda (Parker's wife) but that was the last one...I guess, they grabbed one of Cliffs "crystal beaker collection" of glassware... Now, wether or not the bourbon in that fine beaker (at the time of the picture) was "still" EWSB I don't know for sure...I do know that he started with EWSB...
