JKLS
It was about Christmas when I started getting into bourbon, so my year is really only about 9 months:1. WLW '112. Michter's 10yo3. PVW 15yo4. 393foureyedfox
I know that you like higher proof bourbons but just curious whether you have tried OC10. I really like it. I was wondering how it compares to Charter 101.i have not tried old charter 10. i know it sounds odd to most people on here, but i flat out wont buy anything under 100 proof. i have found absolutely nothing under 100 that i enjoy, so i stopped buying that category altogether. i have heard a lot of good talk about charter 10. seems few people know about charter 101. i bought it just on a whim, not really expecting much. i just thought it would be a good way to try BT at 101 proof. i was really surprised by it. so far, i really like it. by the time the bottle is gone though, that may change......its happened before. not the best out there, but at its price, its hard to beat. Sasquatch
I don't know if you've tried it, and I don't know if it's always available, but TPS did private single barrel offerings of Charter 101 in the past and they are the B+ to the standard bottles B-. $35 or so and only available in handles, but definitely the best value bourbon I've had. The absolute best, Virgin 101 being a close second.
theglobalguy
In no particular order:1. FRsB '122. WLW '123. PHC '124. Bowman LE (Barrel Strength Bourbon, not the GS version)5. ORVW 10/90Hell of a year. Hope to be able to find at least a few of the Fall releases, so far...flippers seem to be winning.
PaulO
The ones I've tried for the first time this year (and would buy again) are: Henry McKenna B.I.B., Larceny. and Dickel Rye. I can't think of two more. A couple I'm looking to try are: Rittenhouse DSP 1, and Evan Williams B.I.B. As to Charter 101, I like it. Around here, not many stores carry it, and prices vary. I think the OC 10 year is just ok. I think being only 86 proof keeps it from being premium bourbon.
squire
Years ago the premium stuff was Bottled in Bond which was always 100 proof. Even Maker's Mark when they started out bottled their top of the line label at 101 proof. The definition would no longer apply but that's how it was when distillerys had one premium and some lesser brands.
