Pick a bottle, any bottle...

If you had to pick a bottle at random to drink from any American distillery, which distillery would you choose? No picking product lines or styles, just name a distillery and whiskey from their barrels (that they distilled) goes into your bottle. For a distillery to qualify, you have to be able to walk into a liquor store and buy whiskey off the shelf that has been distilled on premise at your choice.

We can break it down, too:

A) Just one bottle.

B) All you drink for a year are random bottles from said distillery.

Wow - very tough call! I'd have to go with HH for variety purposes as well (although if someone told me I'd have to live with the pick the rest of my life - probably land on Four Roses!)

Four Roses for me as well. If all I had to drink for the rest of my life was yellow label I don't think I would be that unhappy.

A) Four Roses - I've never found an un-drinkable product from them. Sure, some I like more than others.

B) Four Roses - yellow label to retailer barrel picks, so much variety and passion about their craft.

I think I'd go Four Roses as well... Buffalo Trace in second due to breadth or product offering.

Got to be 4 Roses for me. With 10 recipes on hand there is so much they can do and I've come to believe that Rutledge is a man with truly high standards. I find it hard to believe he would put his name on anything that wasn't top notch.

Four Roses for me. I'm a fan of all their stuff from top shelf to bottom shelf and I can't say the same for any other distiller. Even if Yellow Label was the only bottle I had available I'd be happy.

1) Four Roses

2) Heaven Hill

That is the correct answer. Ty

Excuse me but only half correct.

1) Four Roses

2) Buffalo Trace

The first one is a pretty easy Four Roses. No matter which of the 10 recipes, or blends, it will be great.

The second I would have to go with Buffalo Trace, if only for variety. They have several different rye and wheat bourbons and different rye whiskies. They're all great products right off the still, and having that variety over a year would probably be preferable to even the uniform excellence of Four Roses.

Buffalo Trace

I pretty much like everything I've had of theirs.

Party of two... I'm with you on this.

1) - Four Roses

2) - Buffalo Trace

It's BT's quality Rye selections that mad them the pick for #2. If 4R made a rye they would be the pick for both.

I could easily name Barton or Grand Dad, pretty much all I drink anyway, but if I were to set a year long project using the products of just one distillery it would be Four Roses as I think they have some of the most interesting stuff on the market.
