RWBadley
For me it's a virtual dead heat 'tween Heaven Hill and Buffalo Trace. Either one could sustain life as we know it.
MauiSon
I sure don't like this trend, unless Four Roses can keep up the supply without sacrificing value. When Squire deigns to give them the nod, even deservedly, I start worrying.

ChainWhip
BT & HH: (for me, it's simply because among the big houses, they're the ones that most likely have aged ryes in the pipelines)They both have diverse portfolios with stellar expressions. If Four Roses had a rye, that'd be a harder top 2 to pick. Edited August 23, 2013 by ChainWhip
tanstaafl2
Probably BT first for the variety available. Second choice would be tough between HH and Four Roses. I too like the option of wheaters and rye whiskey. If it weren't limited to American distilleries then, as much as I like bourbon and rye, it would probably be Middleton. Gotta have me some Pure Pot Still whiskey!
MauiSon
There's always something to worry about, my policy is relax and have a drink.Good idea, sippin' on the SB blend - it's good, but I'm going with 3:2 (OWA:W12) ratio next batch.
oke&coke
BT definitely for the variety and 4R for the quality.
Richnimrod
Wow, after giving this alotta thought (well; for me alot), I decided on Heaven Hill. But, I gotta tell ya' The Buffalo has some amazing brands I'd hate to leave behind. And, so does Four Roses. On the other hand, since I have to stick with it for only a year, and I have a well-stocked bunker that has several WLW's and several GTS's and several ETL's, and a few of the finer of Four Roses efforts; but only one Elijah Craig Barrel Proof, I went this way. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it.

Stormeh
Probably FR and FR here.
AaronWF
You guys have been making some great points regarding the lack of rye with the FR option. I would have to imagine BT will be the place to go for rye, particularly of the more aged variety. With B-F making Rittenhouse for the last many years, who's to say there's much of any (if any at all) rye resting under HH's roofs. I like a lot of BT, but it gets boring rather quickly... So I don't know what would be worse: Going a whole year without rye or getting bored with the whiskey early in the year in the hopes that some Saz18 or VWFRR would show up at some point. Then again, the rules state that you will get whiskey which was distilled at your distillery. Not sure how that applies to the apparent Frankenstein that is something like VWFRR, so maybe I'll just do A) FR and FR to make it simple! Eh, nevermind, I think I'll have to go BT for reasons of rye and wheated bourbon. With the exception of PHC 4th, I haven't been too pleased with HH wheated bourbon. For the most part, BT's wheaters don't blow me away either, but they're capable enough.
Pirate762
4R and HH for me. I have never had 4R that was not at least good and I like most HH offerings as well. Might get lucky with some PHC and 4RLE's.Jim
WAINWRIGHT
I would love to say FR's,but I would agree fully with Aaron's point that BT has the variety that would inevitably keep my attention strewn across a years time.

mbroo5880i
Four RosesBT - The diversity of products is too great to ignore. I prefer BT (Weller) wheaters over HH's. BT also makes solid straight ryes (Sazerac).
mosugoji64
Great question, Aaron, and a tough one. My first pick would probably be BT due to my love of their wheaters and the variety in the rest of their portfolio. The back up would be a tough call. FR and HH would both be a close second. FR has a lot to offer and I don't mind HH wheaters so that's a toss up for me. I'm just thankful I don't have to make that decision!
