Evan Williams 1783 and Evan Williams Bottled In Bond (White Label) have been spotted and purchased in my home state of Minnesota. I have had the 1783 from a Kentucky purchase and loved it, so I was very excited to see it. I am now giving the EWW BIB a sip and really enjoy it. Heaven Hill is really impressing me with offering reasonably priced products to an expanded market. In an era where there seems to be 40-80 dollar bottles all over the place, it is a joy to pay 1/2 to 1/4 of that and still be very impressed. I am now officially spoiled. Heaven Hill offers an 8 year old 86 proofer in Minnesota that I can get for 17.99 a handle that is a really nice pour. After asking about it on this site, I found out it is only available in Minnesota and Rhode Island. Needless to say, my home is going to have plenty of HH products on hand in the foreseeable future.

The Heaven Hill stye works well for me at 8 years, I wish that expression was available in my area.

I did empty a bottle of the 1783 and it was just OK but now the EWBIB is an everyday pour and is in my top 5.

Chiming in on the HH love, had my parents bring me a OHH BIB, and its delicious in its brash and corn-tastic way. Something about the label and bottle shape really do it for me as well. I wonder how long it has had this exact design.

I know its silly but now I feel like I've got to buy a bottle of the EWBIB to do a side-by-side.

Whenever someone asks for a reasonably-priced recommendation I almost always point to the HH bottles on the lower shelves. They're fantastic values, IMHO.

i am always getting something new every few weeks to try, but i always seem to pick up one of the various HH BIB's every other month or so anyway. The corny taste is peculiar, but after a while, it settles in with you and you realize what a deal you got. Wish some other distilleries had the balls of HH. a pretty decent 750 for $10. sure, there are others i prefer, but they are 4-5x the price, and doubtful that they are 4-5x better. theres almost always a HH BIB on my desk. right now, i keep doing gold and white taste offs, and i have a hard time picking one over the other. fortunately theres only 75 cents difference in them, so i can easily just keep both here.

i laugh off the people who drop $75 and far beyond on a bottle of whisky. Bookers is $46 or so around here, and i hate paying that much. maybe santa will bring me one.

last night, out of respect for 4R's popularity, i gave the 4RSiB one more shot. I know im in the minority, but i just do NOT like this stuff. If it were $10 and the HH BIB was $30, id still grab the HH over it. That and the Larceny bottle just sit on the shelf, waiting for friends to come over and drink them. one friend loves 4R, so its gonna be a gift to him on his bday in a few weeks. its still practically full, and he keeps offereing to buy it from me, so ill just give it to him. no more 4R will come through my door unless its a barrel proofer.

I actually agree with both this statement and your earlier one. I was not a huge fan of the HH "house flavor" but now I dream about it at night, and also keep a bottle of HH at hand. There's literally one open on my desk now.

With regards to Four Roses, I tried the small batch and single barrels versions with a few other whiskeys and found I liked them almost least. That being said, Four Roses YL is one of my favorite pours despite its low proof, and I've had two barrel strength Gift Shop pours that were just mind-blowing. I've heard a lot of people say that the (regular) smB and SB are growers...you like them more later than you did right away.

All that being said I'm going to be desperately knocking on people's doors for a bottle of the SmB 2013.
