toddinjax
Hey all, I'm back from the trail in Kentucky where I finally acquired a handle of AAA 10 year. It's just been open for 2 days now but I'm finding it rather bland, lacking complexity..if anything, the (long, pleasant) aftertaste exceeds the actual drinking. I'm a bit disappointed, maybe a little time now that it's uncorked will help it open up.Also, what everyone hear says is true; the hard hat tour at BT is great,(thanks Fred) and be sure to stop at Rick's Lighthouse cafe for an oyster po' boy with fried banana peppers! whiskeyagonzo
I just opened my first AAA 10 as well. I personally like it. It's very mellow and an easy summer time sipper. Plus it mixes well with some Ale8. I would take it any day over this KC SB I just finished.
petrel800
I love AAA10, especially in the summer and especially for the price. I don't think it's ever been overly complex to me, just a darn good sipper with some good age on it for a screaming price. That being said, I do miss the TPS bottlings of it, they had a couple real stand outs in my opinion.

Easy for that to happen.
GaryT
I like the AAA 10 yr well enough, but think Thad is right about the proof. In some blind SBS, I picked the AAA 10 Star more often than not, and I wonder if those 4 extra proof points aren't what pushes that.
sutton
I like the AAA 10yr at 86 pf - at a higher proof I think this would be a scorching wood bomb on the finish.
SMOWK
AAA10yr is probably the most flavorful 86 proof bourbon you can find.

One of my favorites.
GaryT
Try Rock Hill Farms. Same mashbill but 100 proof. One of my favorites. I do like RHF - but think they're putting a premium on it for the purty bottle If it was $35, I'd be all over it.

MyOldKyDram
I honestly forget the proof is that low when I drink it.
TunnelTiger
Really love the AAA10star and have never had the 10 yr, the only sub 90 I've enjoyed so far is 4rYL but that might be to my lack of experience, nah I prefer the 100+

I keep meaning to pick up the 10 Star based on your reviews, but always forget. I will change that shortly, though. To the OP, I too, have have found the 10 year to been very meh to me over the last couple of bottles. But, I could be a burnout...
miller542
AAA10yr is probably the most flavorful 86 proof bourbon you can find.Did a side-by-side with AAA10yr and EWSB (forget which year) a while back since both are 10yr and almost identical proof. EWSB came out ahead, but just barely and confirmed for me what a great value AAA10yr is. True, AAA10yr might not be the most complex bourbon out there, but it has to be the one of the all time best every day pours.
wmpevans
AAA10yr is an easy sipper and a great value pour IMO. It's on my buy list when in KY.
hn4bourbon
I have recently really enjoyed VOB 86proof. For my palate, I haven't come across an 86 proofer that taste better than this VOB yet. Granted I haven't tried AAA10yr but I have tried many different releases of EWSB.
mbroo5880i
AAA10yr is an easy sipper and a great value pour IMO. It's on my buy list when in KY.I like it. As noted, it has the same mashbill as RHF and Blanton's. I believe Age International also markets Blanton's. Anyway, it is solid for the price but would be even better if were a little higher in proof. I know Ancient Age has a NAS 90 proof but I have never tried it. squire
Triple A Ten is a high grade round stone blue collar Bourbon that's still a terrific value.

Vosgar
Definitely a favorite budget bourbon, I just wish it had a little more body to it. Planning on picking up a couple more next month while at the KBF
squire
I'll take it as found Gary, wouldn't want them messing with it.
mosugoji64
Todd: I would recommend stepping away from the bottle for a couple of weeks and coming back to it after your expectations have had time to settle. We talk it up quite a lot around here because of its amazing QPR. It's not the most complex pour out there, but for the price it's VERY VERY good. Give yourself some time to gain perspective and I think you'll understand what a great value AAA 10yr really is.
toddinjax
Thanks, good advice I think as now just a few days in it's showing itself a little better already.
