Just posted on Facebook by Wes Henderson:

Last night the world lost a national treasure, but to his family, Dad was simply "Dad". He was the kindest person I have ever known. He loved with all his heart, and without conditions. While we are saddened beyond words, there is joy in our hearts as he is now free from any suffering. As Dad was an eight year melanoma survivor, we knew this day would eventually come, but I would give anything for one more day.....I love you Dad.

Lincoln was 75 years old.

For those who may not know, Lincoln was the former Brown-Forman Master Distiller instrumental in the creation of Woodford Reserve and later founder of Angel's Envy.

Just saw the news. With he and Elmer gone within just a few months of one another, it's been a big loss for the community. I'll raise a glass of AE tonight in his honor.

Lincoln will be missed. A true gentleman and scholar of Bourbon. I learned so much from listening to him speak I know I will miss him. My thoughts and prayer to the Henderson family.

I'll raise a glass in Lincoln's memory tonight. After his work at Brown-Forman, he became a shining light in the world of NDPs, and I hope that his legacy lives on and inspires others to do something really meaningful in the NDP world.

Sad news. He was a true gentleman and a wonderful guy - and had a great nose for doing some cool stuff with whiskey. He will be missed, and I'll have his family in my prayers.

God Speed Lincoln!

Sad news indeed. He was such a big part of the new found success of Angel's Envy not to mention his many accomplishments in the industry while with Brown-Foreman. Unfortunately we are approaching a time when many of the true artists of his generation could be leaving us and we can only hope the next generation of master distillers can be as innovative.

Very sad. I enjoyed my few meetings with Lincoln immensely. The bourbon world lost a good one!

A very sad day. My wife and I had a chance to meet Lincoln and have a bottle of Angel's Envy signed two years ago at the Liquor Barn in Lexington. Thoughts and prayers to the family.

I'm reflecting tonight on the last time I spoke with Lincoln. It was almost exactly a year ago, on Saturday of the 2012 Kentucky Bourbon Festival. He was signing bottles of Angel's Envy Bourbon at J.T. Webb's store in Bardstown, KY. He was in great spirits and thrilled about his work. I called J.T. tonight to reminisce. Although I had recently purchased a few different bottlings of AE, I was taken by one striking signature just inked by Lincoln and bought that bottle, too. I'm sorry to see this genuine Kentucky gentleman and great man of bourbon leave us.

He was kind enough to sign a bottle for me at an event about a year and a half ago. Got to chat with him briefly. A very nice guy. That signed bottle is now a keeper. Can you imagine the stories being shared now between him and Elmer and Truman.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone for their kind words about Dad. We have lost one of the bourbon greats, once of the last of the living "old school". Our little brand will continue, we will be fine, but our hearts are broken right now. Best wishes to all from the Henderson Family.

My sincere condolences to your family. Unfortunately we have lost some greats as of late. Hopefully the knowledge that made them great to begin with, is passed on to the next generation.

My condolences for your loss Wes. I hope it is some consolation that your Dad could experience the ground breaking of your distillery and as he said in his own words “I feel blessed to do what I truly love to do. It is a dream come true to have my own distillery on Main Street in downtown Louisville."
