nd2005
I'm going down there in a week or so. Any must-visit bars/restaurants (or liquor stores for that matter)?
Kyjd75
I'm going down there in a week or so. Any must-visit bars/restaurants (or liquor stores for that matter)? All kinds of places on River Street to visit, including a small liquor store. Excellent restaurant/bar would be the "Olde Pink House." All in Savannah.http://www.plantersinnsavannah.com/savannah-dining.htm
393foureyedfox
when we stayed there for about a week last year, i think we ate at moon river more than anything else. great food, and it was right across the street from the hotel we stayed at, right on the river.there was another place, right on the river in the touristy district, that had awesome parm. cheese grits in the morning. if you see it, get it. Flyfish
I'll second the Moon River rec. They have seasonal brews that can be quite good--except that if you find something you really like, next time they won't have it. It was a "seasonal brew" you know. So, drink up while you can. (That's a pretty good motto for life, come to think of it.)

DogfaceSoldier
I live in Savannah so maybe I can give you some pointers:Moon River - great beer selection and unique to Savannah. I've never had their food so I can't comment thereKevin Barry's Irish Pub - if you are former military or SOF, this is a MUST see. The second floor is unlike anything I've ever seen. Phenomenal Irish Coffee.Alligator Soul - unique restaurant and have always been pleased with their foodSocial Club - not a bad place to stop throughChart House - fantastic seafood, prices are normal for river streetAbsolutely skip the Paula Dean restaurant as the food is horrendous. Make sure you see Forsyth Park while you are in Savannah. All the liquor stores are clear of dusties. Johnie Ganem and Habersham Beverage are the two best liquor stores in Savannah. Hilton Head makes a nice day trip, but I wouldn't stay there more than a night as the place is underwhelming if you ask me.
wmpevans
Best liquor store is Habersham Beverage on Abercorn. Last time I was there-- last year--they didn't have any "allocated" bottles, but they have a very good selection and good prices. I agree with Dogface about Hilton Head. Not worth the trip. Traffic, traffic. Savannah is a cool town. Walk around the squares and soak up the charm.Enjoy.
Tony Santana
Headed to Savannah soon, first time - rather than start a new forum I thought I'd resurrect this one - anyone have anything to add to the suggestions above?
DaveOfAtl
Not too much to add, but I believe Hugh Acheson's new restaurant, The Florence, just opened. His Athens and Atlanta places are great, and I expect this place will be too.
petrel800
The Old Pink House is a nice restaurant to take the wife/girlfriend if you're looking for a nice evening. They have a pretty cool bar in the Cellar as well.

Example, it got a couple bottles of Compass Box's The General
