I'm glad I could inspire! I also will be having some JW green while relaxing in a bath after running the tough mudder today. A scotch sounds like the perfect tool to unwind before sleeping for a week.

Good job finishing the Mudder! I'm facing bunker indecision at the moment...

Nice! I really like that stuff and am very bummed they discontinued it. I have the liter bottle I'm working on now and two more in the bunker but after that... :(

Doesn't appear to be any rush at the moment. I have 2 bottles but I still see a good bit of it sitting on shelves.

Of course these things have a way of suddenly disappearing overnight.

Lil Lagavulin 16 on this most fallish of nights!

Try some blue cheese with that Lag 16. Great combo.

Will have to try that but preferable somewhere closer to the ocean. The Hoosier state isn't known for its fresh seafood ;-)

A friend of mine pulled a sample of Bruichladdich 40 for me, so I figured it would probably be good form to at least have some basis of comparison...I have 5 single malts here and have to go through all of them a few times before I even touch that sample...

Likely to get a wee taste of the new NAS Talisker Storm this week. Hard to pay top dollar for NAS whisky but I do rather like Talisker and with the price of all of it creeping up I figure I should at least give it a shot.

First peated dram of the season is a Lagavulin 12 year 2012. Delicious, and the perfect time of year for it.

I had some Balvenie doublewood 12 last night... man I enjoy that whisky! I know a lot think it's overpriced for a 12 year, and often I have to agree, but when I can find it for $40-50 I have to get a bottle since it's just so tasty. I still prefer the 15 year but that runs above $100 in some places!

Springbank 16 CS Amontillado finish and Longrow 14 CS Madeira finish. Satisfying, deep, funky warmth still lingering an hour later. Not a drop of water needed.

Pouring samples always affords me a chance to sip "Dim Sum" style... getting my Balvenie TUN 1401 3-6-9 on!

Big thx to the generous SB peeps for making this possible.

Still getting over a head cold / cough but couldn't wait to try these side-by-side... In the small bit that I had, the 9 seemed the least sweet/fruity (slight bitterness even) on the palate & had the most heat.

The 3 is the wonderful strawberry jam in a glass I remembered and the 6 was in the middle (this bottle is really coming into its own with me).

9 was just opened so it may round out a little in a few weeks - looking forward to revisiting these when I recover.

I am beyond jealous... I may just cry now.

Want friends over to help with the tasting notes
