I know, right? The DE is expensive here, $220 before 24% tax! I have another '95 and a '93 tucked away though, so I am in decent shape.

Dang...it's $78 + tax in my hood. Hit me up if you need a hand.

Delilah's 13th Anniversary Highland Park. Nothing gets over on this one, and nothing gets me over it.

That sounds like it'd be a great pour... What're the details on that bottling? My Google-Fu is failing me :(

Endeavoring to see the end of my Cambus 48 year old single grain. I purchased it summer 2012 with the intention of opening it today, the 50th anniversary of Kennedy's assassination. However, the bottle got cracked when MOKD came to visit in July. That turned out to be wonderful as it was then enjoyed again at my birthday and later by a few in Bardstown. Now, coming full circle, I'm finishing what I intended to begin on 11/22/13.

It's absolutely delicious. Full of bourbon and rum notes. Cheers, everyone!

That bottle got a lot of love and was shared with a great number of people,I'm just glad I got a chance to sample such a fine dram.It truly was rather nuanced and subtle, nothing of which I expected especially given the nose of such an aged whisky. Thanks again Josh,I'll mourn your recent loss as well.

I'm starting with an Arran Sherry tonight. It's a 14 year at CS. I'm generally in love with offerings from Arran (the 14 CS from K&L is amazing). This one might need some air. It's good, but maybe not quite as good as I was hoping it would be.

Started with Aberfeldy 12...continuing with Balvenie FR....plan to conclude the evening with some Redbreast 12CS....a comfortably numb evening.

Did a little Glenmorangie tasting tonight with some minis I've had laying around from a giftbox last year.

Nectar d'or : sweet, vanilla, oak, creamy, spices - delicious, I'd never had a sauternes finished whisky before not sure if it's that or the bourbon barrel influence that I'm tasting, but I like it, a lot.

Quinta Ruban : a little deeper and darker off the bat, nuts, figs?, on the finish I get all the port influence - I like it and the finish seems to bring it all together

Lasanta : Sherry from front to back, nutty, red fruit, spice - I've been eyeing a full bottle of this one as it's priced right and gets a lot of good feedback. Not sure it's really for me, but not to say it isn't tasty or very well done, it's both.

I really like getting these minis as a bonus with the Original (which was easy drinking). If I get a bottle of any of these it will be the D'Or.

that was fun

Glenfiddich Snow Phoenix. It's definitely "darker" in profile compared to typical Glenfiddich and is somewhat more on edge. Smooth but with something under the surface that changes the normal simple sweetness of the 12 year. I wish I could describe it better, I need some more time playing with it before I can come up with a great description.

Had a bit of the Amrut Intermediate Sherry bottled at 114.2 proof last night. They have a fairly distinctive distillery flavor to me but this one seems to work particularly well.

Sipping on a little Glendronach 12 along with some garlic olive bread and icelandic butter... quite tasty!

I want that. But I had a pretty good day/night of buffalo chicken dip, steak, caprese salad and various malts.

Talisker 25 / 2011 - 45.8%

I drank about half a bottle of that this summer. A hotel bar in Uig had it for crazy cheap. Lovely stuff.

When I was in Orkney, I would hear the locals calling something "peedie", which means "small". My wife and I have permanently integrated this word into our vocabulary because, well, it's goddamn adorable.

I just rolled out a huge software project in the dead of night like a boss. Downtime was less than 1 second. Monitoring servers and it's unbelievably perfect. I'm having a peedie glass of Balvenie Portwood to celebrate. I might even get some sleep tonight. Perhaps tomorrow I'll wake to screaming clients and hours of frantic bug fixing...but for right now, it feels damn good. Cheers!

Congrats on the peedie downtime for the migration - hopefully everything stays up & running!

Slainte!

I'll admit, I had to look up where Uig was and now I'm very jealous. My wife and I are talking about heading to Scotland next year pending finances and time, if we do I'll need to hit this board up for suggestions. We have traveled in other parts of Europe but never anywhere in the UK for some reason.

As for me, no scotch last night, it was quite sad. I did, however, catalog my scotch minis finally which was kinda fun.

Just poured from a sample of Nikka Pure Malt Black - thanks to the generous SB'r that rhymes with "Taming of the Shrew"

;)

Edit: Following that up with Glenmorangie Finealta & Glendiddich Snow Phoenix
