I'll need all that and then some with a 4 day weekend at the in-laws...where there's no booze to be had.

That's what flasks are for ;)

The thought has crossed my mind, but I'm not the type to be sneaking alcohol...at least where it would make my wife's life more difficult. I'm more the sneak booze into places that don't carry anything decent...or where I have an objection to paying $10-20 for a drink. I've got plenty of time to chill in my bunker. I think she'll need a drink more than I will when we get home.

Wife and I were just discussing this earlier....how we noticed while at her brother's house yesterday there was a definite line of seperation in the kitchen/dining room between the 2 groups...

Thank goodness I don't ever have to leave my house anymore...and if I do, it's with my wife's family where everybody can drink what they please: coffee, tea, water, wine, spirits...or combinations thereof. I used to spend half the holiday time every year with my family where such enjoyment was not welcomed. I fixed that...with the exception of 1 brother, I've managed to get excommunicated & blacklisted from the remainder of the family....but, it does come with benefits! :drink:

Sorry for the drift....enjoying some more Bruichladdich Rocks on this Black Friday...while avoiding all the idiots flooding the roads & stores.

Small family for Thanksgiving here this year and the drinkers didn't show up. My in-laws aren't terrible people...they're just really boring. And with M-I-L having dietary restrictions on anyone that she can control, enjoyment of anything is limited. My daughter's 2nd birthday "party" tonight. Oh goodie...we get gluten-free chocolate something or other...

With my family or my wife's, we're the only middle ground people. There's either teetotalers or people who you don't want to drink with because babysitting adults is never fun. Oh well, my girls love seeing grandma and that's what really important.

Shared some Ealanta with some good friends. It went over quite well. These particular friends I have converted from Scotch to bourbon & rye so they were a little surprised to see me with it. They enjoyed it as did I and that's all that matters. Good drink and good friends.

Sleep late, have fun, get wild, drink whiskey and drive fast on empty streets with nothing in mind but falling in love and not getting arrested.

I'm still stuck in Wisconsin with a bunch of normally drunk, but currently sober women at a baby shower for my wife's cousin. They're so needlessly loud and unattractive that I'm imagining a large dram of something. Because of their obnoxious volume, my 2 year can't nap which will lead to a difficult evening.

I might have to make a run tonight somewhere after they leave. This 4 day weekend couldn't get any worse. Anyone have anything special that they recommend to make the pain of holiday gatherings go away. Perhaps a 1:1 vatting of Glenmo and Valium?

Glenfidich Cask of Dreams with just a touch of laudanum might do the trick! Perfect for a cranky kid as well...

Why are you at a baby shower? Dudes aren't supposed to go to baby showers. There's a perfectly good reason for why not and you are currently living the proof. Get the hell out of there now. NOW! Go ANYWHERE! GO!

Not a huge house. I was in the basement watching football with my FIL as much as I could, but we have 2 kids here and I wasn't going to saddle Mrs. Power with them and a bunch of crazy old bitties all by herself. It was terrible, but I got to be here as the Badgers dreams of a BCS Bowl crumbled (I'm a Gopher) and that was almost enough to make up for it. I'm just a curse on Wisconsin football teams this weekend. :D

I love your style. When I get home, I'm putting on a Med Scientist hat (whatever that looks like) and I'm just going to start throwing sh*t together.

Next you need to try a 1:1 vatting, mixing your Lagavulin with my glass.

Mortlach 16, hopefully followed up soon with a Mortlach 70.

You have a Mortlach 70?!?!? Did you just have an extra $17,000 burning a hole in your pocket? :)

If not a joke, would love to hear tasting notes from someone who doesn't get paid to write tasting notes. ;)
