Is it worth the price tag in your opinion? I'm stopping by K&L tomorrow...

I'm kind of a cheap bastard on most things, so it's really hard for me to say $100+ is worth it. This is what I will say. You will never get anything 32 years for that price. The complexity in it and the uniqueness of the dram makes it worth it to me. Do I have $60-80 bottles that I like better, yes. But would I pay $100 for it again? The answer is yes because of the factors that I listed. See if you can get a sample of the Arran 14 CS. I'm in love with it at $100.

Rainy night here turning to sleet & ice soon. :drinking:...they say ice storm is imminent. So, I may have to depend on the bunker for a few days. For now, it seemed like a night to go back to the briny, sea salty Rocks of Bruichladdich. Next trip making the rounds, I may have to grab another one of these before they disappear.

Balvenie 10 Founders Reserve last night. Still got another in the bunker but may pick up the Double Wood today to replace the one we finished last week.

Started last with a recently opened Springbank 10/100 - this stuff is the bees knees. I haven't had one open for quite awhile and I forgot how dirty it is, but so well balanced with supple, creamy malt and fresh lemon zest. The dirty aspect brings a certain tarry, peppery funk that shows so well on the clean malt profile.

Also opened a 12yo Springbank bottled by Hart Bros at 46%. Distilled June 1993, bottled September 2005. It's not as rich, not as extreme in its directions as the 10/100 - less dirt more lemon. Funny, I picked this up the other week for $48 and later saw the same bottle on another shelf for $102. I think I'll go back and grab that other $48 bottle...

Finished up with some Caol Ila Sauternes finished, very pleasing as usual.

I was at K&L tonight and I stared at the bottle for a while, but decided to pass. And funny you should mention the Arran since right after K&L I stopped at a Bevmo and grabbed a 12 year CS Arran on a whim. All told I have 9 bottles coming back with me, I'll post a pic up when I get home.

Started the cold, frozen evening with a warming pour of Knappogue Castle, continued a bit later with Bruichladdich Laddie 10, and finishing up now with the lovely Redbreast 12CS.

Last night it was Glenfiddich Cask of Dreams 2012 followed by 1990 GlenDronach 21 Oloroso Sherry Cask CS and Aberlour A'Bunadh batch 42. All great pours.

my local whiskey guy was clearing out all the open Cheiftain's sample bottles he had that did not have a corresponding full bottle in the store.. I had a few very healthy pours of 22 yr Milton Duff and 17 yr Glenrothes.. The Milton Duff was a very impressive pour!! Really liking everything I have had from that particular distillery, the Glenrothes was OK but not nearly as flavorful as the milton duff

Low budget night this time around....at least for starters - Jameson. First time I've tried it....not bad, not bad at all. Plan to follow it with some Bruichladdich Laddie 10 if I can stay awake long enough. Wish now I had picked up some JW Green when I saw it today to toast Sparty tonite for putting the wood to the Buckies....:toast:

Trying some Still Waters Distillery Stalk & Barrel Single Malt (3yr, 61.3%, Cask #2) - grain is prominent on the nose and front of the palate and it's salty throughout (faint hints of stone fruit). Mouthfeel is great and doesn't drink hot like you'd think it would @ 61.3%. Will give this another go in a few days to see if I can tease more out of my palate.

Following that Canadian Single Malt up with a sample of Bunnahabhain 1990 / 22yr Sherry Cask @ 52% (IB Whisky Faissle). I'm not very familiar with Bunna but this could pass as cross between Highland Park & Springbank... The smoke and dried fruit meld on the palate with an almost buttery mouthfeel.

I've been interested in bunna but have yet to meet that interest with a pour.

Having some uigeadail with a touch of Lasanta poured in, hoping for a little more sweetness and a rounder feel. It succeeds well enough. I like it.

Suffering through some more of this infernal bottle of Glenlivet 12yr that I stupidly purchased.

Maybe start a solera bottle with it? I did that a couple of years ago with the ends of bottles I just didn't care to finish off for one reason or another. It is a decent pour and if you want to change it up a bit, you can mix it a bit with something else to dial it up or down.

Opened a Black Bull 30 yr old last night - have to spend more time with it but it is a helluva sherry bomb. My first impression was that I had mistakenly opened a bottle of sherry!

Dug out a bottle of Black Bull 12 last night that has been open for at least 6 months and down to about a third of a bottle. Wow. Some time open has turned this one into a caramel and vanilla bomb! Very reasonable price, 100 proof, going to replace this one..

Wow Joe... Speechless... I've never seen the entire Clockwork Orange - maybe it's time to remedy that.

It's a God-awful movie. Spare yourself. You're not missing a thing.....

I don't know. In the right frame of mind I thought it was pretty interesting ;-)

Sleep late, have fun, get wild, drink whiskey and drive fast on empty streets with nothing in mind but falling in love and not getting arrested.

You are insane. Either that or you have no taste. Since we share many of the same tastes, I'm going with insane.

Ill second the insane thing. :P Brilliant freaking movie. And probably more relevant today than when it was written, filmed.

Johnnie Walker Green, I'd forgotten how much I enjoy this blend. After this bottle is gone I'm going to save my last bottle for a very special occasion.

After dinner, went to the Bruichladdich Laddie 10 for second go around with this bottle. It's even better this time around. I definitely like it a bit above Rocks and one I'll be stocking up on in the near future before Remy raises the price + cuts down on availability here in the States.
