humchan2k
Every year, one of my favorite events on the calendar is Whisky Live LA, which is held here in Beverly Hills. It's all-you-can-drink, (no more stupid tickets this year!,) there's a pretty decent buffet, and you even get a Glencairn to take home with you. I've been 3 years in a row, as it's a way for me to sample 4R's SmB Ltd Edition & PHC, both before they get released to the LA market, as well as try other things I'm interested in. I've also been lucky enough to meet David Perkins and try all the new releases coming out of High West as well, so pretty much every delish whiskey is there for you to try. Everyone, that is, except for Buffalo Trace. Sure, last year they made a token appearance with a BT booth that had.....only BT for tasting, but that's it! No Weller. No Saz. No Taylor..and definitely no BTAC. Maker's Mark has even had their Master Distiller give a short class on their products, and I got to taste MM distillate at the white dog phase, 12 months, 24 months, 48 and full market product...it was amazing. So my question is simply...why? Why wouldn't BT want to be at this event, one that is held all over the world and gets people to shell out $100 to attend? People are pretty much paying to be marketed to! All the major US brands are there, including all of Heaven Hill's labels, Bulleitt, Hudson (meh,) Four Roses, High West, you name it. For the scotch fans, tons of brands are there..I hate scotch, but still. Hell, this year even fancy rums like Clement and Zapaca are going to be there.....I just don't get it. If BT were involved and I could sample all of their Weller expressions and some other cool things, I'd be beyond stoked and would drag as many homies as I could to this event! Does anybody know why this is? Thanks, SB Nation Humchan2k

I heard from my friend's cousin that Buffalo Trace is boycotting Whiskey Live Los Angeles event because the 'Shirley Temple' was invented there. and he should know, he likes whiskey

jaycamm
BT had a booth in Boston last night. They were sampling Blanton's, Baby Saz, BT, ER10 and EHTSmB. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk - now Free
Kalessin
I was there with a group of six friends (from my whiskey social evenings group). I didn't taste of the BT whiskies (as mentioned by jaycamm above), but there was plenty there to hold my attention. I probably sampled 70 different whiskies, some rums, and a few assorted other things. A good time was had by all. Highlights included the Balcones table, AE Rye, ECBP, PHC, a number of stellar scotches out of my budget range, and a few in it, like the Aberlour 18 which I'd never tasted before.I'm definitely going again next year.
