Bourbon Festival Photos

Due to the large # of photos, I've posted them on the Sam's Club photo center. To view, you need to be invited. I went through the users list and many don't have e-mails, so you didn't get an invite to view. Send me a message with an e-mail address and you'll get an invite. About 96 photos, including BT, Gazebo, barrel rolling, Four Roses, Flappers and Dappers.

Same here Ed, I got 23 and didn't see any gazebo pics. But they were great to still view nonetheless. This was when I checked like 2 hours ago...

I tried making one Uber album but it apparently errored out. I had to make 4 small ones. Did you get flappers, Barrel rolling, Gazebo and BT?

There should be about 96

I am asking a favor from some of you that might be able to help me. Most of you know my Aunt Jo. She had a grand time during the festival. Our Gazebo event was one of em.

She called me the other day and all of her pictures were ruined. She was so upset. I don't understand what happened but only half of her pictures turned out. Literally,...half of the picture

If anyone has a picture of my Aunt Jo would you send it to me? I hope that someone has a picture of her or maybe Mary?

I am sorry to hear about the photographic mishap. Obviously, I can't help with your request, but I do have a comment about what might have gone wrong if the camera in question is a single-lens-reflex.

Many years ago I was very serious about taking pictures. I had a top-of-the line Minolta SLR and several lenses from macro to 400 mm.

On a trip through the Sierra Nevada, ending at Yosemite, I took about a dozen rolls of 36 exposure film. Each day I would send in the rolls I took that day, using Kodak pre-paid mailers.

When I returned home, the first couple of rolls were waiting for me. One of them was fine; the other was ruined -- every frame was one-third black. I assumed it was a processing glitch, and I was glad that I had not sent all my film in at once.

The next day a couple more rolls arrived -- all spoiled in the same way. With each passing day I received one or two more rolls, every one of which was spoiled. I got so I could hardly stand to take the mail out of the mailbox.

I eventually spread out all my pictures in order, and I realized that I had cleaned my camera the night after taking the only roll of good pictures. It took me a few days to figure out what had happened. Using a can of compressed air to blow the dust out of the camera body, I had dislodged a cloth light baffle that is normally loosely clipped to the back of the reflex mirror. It was hanging in front of the film plane, blocking about a third of the frame. Because it was behind the mirror, it did not appear when I looked through the viewfinder.

I vividly recall trembling with rage as I struggled to keep from smashing the camera into a wall. It was at least 20 years before I took another photograph; the fun had all gone out of it.

Perhaps my bitter experience will shed some light on your Aunt Jo's problem.

I do not know what kind of camera was used, but ... If she was using a 35mm camera with flash and had the shutter speed set to anything faster than 1/60 of second, this will also result in half photos. The flash is out of sync with the shutter.

Back when I considered myself a semi-serious amateur photographer (about 30 years ago -- time flies) Nikon 35 mm. SLR cameras would snyc with the flash at 1/125 of a second, but they were the only ones.

I would have supposed there would be advancements on that front by now, but from what you say, I guess I would be wrong.
