The movie is over thirty years old, so I'm sure this has been brought up before. But since I'm watching it yet again, I thought I would post. What is its connection to bourbon?

The Chapeze distillery outside of Bardstown played the part of Czechoslovakia in Stripes.

IIRC, they didn't use the main Beam distillery in Clermont, but the shuttered former Chapeze facility closer to Bardstown. I can't Google map it from my mobile.

The Chapeze site, used in the movie, is just north of Jim Beam Clermont, on the railroad. Beam owns the site, has torn down many of the buildings used in the film, and has built several new warehouses there.

However, the whole film was shot in Kentucky except for some studio stuff. The opening scenes were shot in Louisville, the base stuff was shot at Fort Knox, etc.

Wikipedia entry.
