recommend a Lexington area bar?

Traveling to the Red River Gorge next week but due to the government shutdown our first night will not be camping. We're looking for a recommendation for a good bourbon selection along with food in or near Lexington. By the way, I've already searched old posts and there is nothing current for 2013.

Bluegrass Tavern is pretty much it. Best selection in Lex and its not even close. No food but there's plenty of good restaurants within stumbling distance. In particular on Short St directly behind the bar. Good taprooms and breweries too, if that tickles your fancy. What are you looking/hoping for?

ETA: Fred Minnick will be in town that Friday signing his new book. Just throwing out a different kind of bourbon option out there.

Thanks for the quick replies. The first one being a who instead of a what surprised me. The goal of the night is to try pours we haven't had before. When we go camping we do our own taste testing. This year our tasting will include ER17 (2012), Stagg Jr., Old Scout 6 and 10, Breckenridge, and EC12 on one night, then switch to scotch the next night with JW Blue, Gold, and Green. My cellar includes ER10, ER17, Stagg, Stagg Jr, Breck, EC12, ECBP12, EC21, FRSB, FRSBLE, FRSB Private Label, and Old Scout/Willett/Templeton for rye. We want to try something new.

By the way, is Bluegrass the same as Cheapside? The only thing I can find on Google is at 115 Cheapside St.

And to throw out some food options near BT there is Table 310, Village Idiot, Shakespeare & Co, deSha's, Dudley's, Goodfellas, Jax, Clawdaddy's, Limestone Blue, Sidebar, Saul Good...not sure what you're looking for but that should give you plenty of research material!

Cheapside is the address for Bluegrass. I'd recommend Bourbon n Tolouse on Euclid Ave for a good meal if you like Cajun. It's cheap and a couple of miles from Bluegrass Tavern. I've heard Jonathan at Gratz Park has a great fine dining selection and a good bourbon selection, but have not eaten there yet.
