Old Ezra 101, where have you gone????

So my usual source of my standby favorite Old Ezra 7/101 tells me it's on back order and they don't know when they will get more. I went on the new Ezra Brooks website to find that it is not listed on there- Only the 90 black label and the Single Barrel are listed. I know Ezra Brooks is a Luxco brand and non-distiller so production is based on availability of correct source whiskey, but the exclusion of the 101 on the website and the "We have no idea if we're going to get any more" response from the distributor has me a bit worried. At $17/bottle, it was one of the best deals in good whiskey out there. The only thing close is the Old Bardstown Estate 101, and that's a bit more expensive and hard to get! I've tried emailing Luxco about the Old Ezra, but I have yet to get a response. Anyone have any help on this one??

I've been seeing it pop up in more places recently around here, actually, so I don't think it's being discontinued or anything. Take heart!

It has been very difficult to find in Lexington, too. Was told that the big liquor stores in town would not be carrying it anymore because it doesn't sell, but I've seen it in the surrounding areas. I hope that's a sign of it staying.

I get mine in Ohio, and the website still shows availability in the usual places. Headed over there in a few weeks, will check.

The site that Ohio maintains for liquor doesn't show where an item is currently stocked, it shows where the item has been shipped to at some point.

Glad I'm not the only one. I wonder if there is some way to accurately find out what's going on with the product.

remembering this thread, i grabbed one today. my wife and i were at the big box liquor store getting supplies for next weekends halloween party getting mostly wine and bags of nuts. i allowed myself one sub $20 bottle, and it was between Ezra 101, FC, or Charter 10. since the other two arent hard to find, i grabbed an OE101

To be fair, if I were them I'd definitely sh1t-can the OE101 and re-design and re-price the EBSB. Who knows what sort of contract or arrangement they have though for the juice in either bottle.

Its kind of amazing that to my palate the OE101 is twice the whiskey the EBSB is for almost half the price. I kind of feel like the OE101 is a good whiskey hiding on the bottom shelf, and the EBSB is a bit of a bottom shelfer with fancy clothes on (long-in-the-tooth-EC12). This is what I suggest when people don't know what an "over-oaked" whiskey tastes like. Then again the variability of "single barrel" may have something to do with this.

For me the SB Ezra has been pretty consistent but, yes, it's a bit overdressed for it's class.

having finally tried EB12 recently, and actually liking OE101 enough to buy it now and then, i couldnt agree more with your assessment

Bump ... found some OE 7/101 for $18.99 a couple of days ago while passing through Connecticut. First time I can recall seeing this in these parts, but I confess that I probably wasn't paying attention before.

If there is a way to tell, I'll look at them to see if I got some stuff a distributor scared out of a warehouse corner, but the label still says "aged 7 years".

OE101/7yr is on sale this month in PA $16.99 and seems to be widely available.

While this item can be found on the luxco.com site, it is not on ezrabrooks.com, which only has the black label, the EBSB/12yr/99pf and EB Cinnamon (70pf). FYI, black label is now down to 80 proof.

Here in OR it's around, although not as plentiful as in the past (neither of the liquor stores in Corvallis have it in stock, but used to). Three stores here in Eugene (where I work) have it...wondering if I should grab a bottle...

That's the going-rate here in NYC. A definite bargain IMO--7 year old, 101 proof bourbon for under $20, and it tastes good. It doesn't really compete with the better bourbons in the $30-$40 range, but it is good for what it is. I always keep a few bottles of it around.
