There's a whiskey bar near me with Van Winkle 12yr for $50, Pappy 15yr for $75 and Pappy 20yr for $100. Pretty sure they are 2 oz pours. Talk about gouging!

Where I work those are the normal retail prices for an entire bottle!

My though is if it's something that is long gone, I'll pay a premium, but PVW is an annual deal, paying extra is not something I'm getting in line for. I did pay about 35 bucks for a pour of ritt 25, but as I said, that's come and gone so it was worth a try in my opinion.

Agree with this. I paid a little above my comfort zone for some Eagle Rare 10/101 and PHC wheated recently because I knew the odds of me ever owning a bottle were exceptionally slim

Same here, and this is a liquor control state that makes the bars pay retail so I know they got them for $50, $72 and $116.

Most of the rest of their list was priced at 25% of bottle cost. It was funny though, I asked about prices on a couple of single malts I saw on the shelf that weren't on the price list. One was a $60 bottle and the other was a $100 bottle, but they had both of them priced at $20 a drink. And the more expensive bottle was a limited release from last year that is getting hard to find, if they were going to jack up the price a little extra on something that would have been the one to do it on.

The price of a whole bottle for one pour is outrageous. I wouldn't frequent that place any more and I would tell them why.

They should be like $20 a pop.

Sadly, they have no trouble getting customers with those prices. A bar I go to occasionally got one bottle of 20 yr and a case of Lot B last year. They priced the 20 at $40 a pour and sold it all the first night.
