OK, right near me is Long Island Vodka. Why post that here? They also make Pine Barrens single malt and Rough Rider straight bourbon whiskey.

Since they are ony 15 minutes away, I thought I may stop in for a taste. Anyone taste these? Any opinions?

Sorry, what is MGP bourbon?

They mention that Pine Barrens single malt is made from Old Howling Bastard from the Blue Point Brewery.

I like Old Howling Bastard. Wonder how that translates into a whiskey?

The Rough Rider Bourbon was not distilled on Long Island, it was purchased from a company called MGPI.

I have had the Bourbon and the Rye and they were too youthful for my taste.

OK, I went on Sunday and they had 4 bottles to sample, Pine Barrens single malt and Rough Rider straight bourbon whiskey, a rye and a cognac. A few things have changed too. First off, they no longer used Old Howling Bastard as the beer to make Pine Barrens. The very pretty girl behind the counter said they now brew their own beer. Also, they claim they had a pot still along with the column still. They said they distill their whiskey on site.

I tried all 4 and like the Pine Barrens single malt the best. Although not enough to buy a bottle at $42
