Good Day All-

I trust you are doing great.

Just curious if anyone knows who may be taking over the Master Distiller role at Angel's Envy? I know there are big shoes to fill.

Best regards, Tony

What they really need is a Master Buyer of Barrels of Whiskey, or a Master Mingler of Barrels.

White Dog, I don't think that's fair. Obviously, their finishing technique seems to be gaining recognition and obviously requires skill. Why a guy like John Glaser gets credit and the AE guys don't is puzzling to me. I know it seems easy, but it's not. Furthermore, they are opening up a big place and will surely need someone with skill to run a plant of that magnitude.

Maybe you were just busting chops. If so, I apologize.

I didn't say what AE's doing is easy, plus, it's good Whiskey. I'm addressing the use of the title Master Distiller.

In my conversations with AE they have always talked of distilling at a point in the (hopefully near) future. Losing Lincoln Henderson is no doubt a big blow but I doubt that plan has changed. And what AE currently does is far more worthy of the title than many operation that use that title and have no intention of distilling anything as best I can tell.

Yeah but my feeling is similar to when I was working in the restaurant trade and people would call me a chef. I would correct them and say I was a cook. Most peole didn't understand a difference but the chef is in charge of the kitchen whereas a cook works on a given station in the kitchen. No shame with either title, just makes clear what your given job is.

Lincoln Henderson didn't leave a vacuum, Wes Henderson is still COO and Kyle Henderson makes the third generation, not bad for a family business.

Angel's Envy has no Master Distiller. Not that it really matters as the title is pretty meaningless; I could have 1 month experience distilling bad craft whiskey and call myself "Master Distiller". The bottom line is that Angel's Envy doesn't distill anything (a touchy subject with their reps), which renders the title even less useful.

Bottom line to me is there are Master Distillers out there that produce shit. Lincoln and co. have crafted some damned fine stuff. Call em what you like.
