Im in michigan and I've been trying to find a really good store for Bourbon and I haven't really found one. Obviously I'm looking for great selection, one that gets the limited stuff and doesn't charge a first born for it and reasonable prices. Obviously cool people that work there would help too. I live in Holly but I work in Warren so that covers a decent swath for sure.

Some of the ones I've been to and like...

Red Wagon in Rochester, great selection.

GS in Royal Oak, little place but hes got a decent amount and this guy always has some interesting barrel select stuff

I shop at a few others but those are ones that I will go out of my way to from time to time at least....

Why not make a store that is close to you a good bourbon store.

Here's what I mean, clink on the link below, it is the MI LCC list of the bourbons that are available here.

Pick out what you want and ask your local whiskey retailer to order it for you.

All the close stores are small party store jobs....They have some stuff but not a ton. Im looking for place that would hopefully have small batch stuff, if we can get it....single barrel stuff things like that....Also if I just order from a local store will they get any of the limited releases? PHC, JTS, FRLEs things like when I'm ready to step up to that price point? I don't know

Likely no.

The smaller stores in MI don't have a shot at PHC, 4R, BTAC, Van Winkle.

Those are reserved for stores that do enough volume to sell large amounts of the "everyday" stuff from the same distiller. The mid-level stores in my area picked up a few bottles of Stagg Jr and ECBP this year but that was it as far as the "limited" release stuff.

You should also check out Hills in Bloomfield Hills and Grape Vine in Sterling Heights. The other Red Wagon in Troy and Holiday Market's liquor section are worth checking out too. Ml on Woodward is big but the service sucks big ones. Really bad. Avoid.

I am at Holiday a fair bit as its one of my main stops for craft beer...I check out their liquor section when Im there too.

Grape Vine is right around the corner from where I work so Ill definitely check that one out too.

Ive been to Ml a couple times and it seems nice but sucks about the service oh well....
