Jim Beams Signature Craft series apparently will also include a Single Barrel that will be released in January. First time I have heard about it. It is good to see the Jim Beam name add a Single Barrel to the line-up.

Does anyone have any information on this? I can't find anything about it on the web.

Sounds good to me. I rather like the Signature Craft, though I'd call it overpriced. If this single barrel is barrel proof, then we'd really have something I think.

I'm guessing it will be 43% like the other two. Got to say, though, Knob Single Barrel is close enough to barrel proof to make me happy.

I have to say; If JB wants to market something for enthusiasts, I'd stay away from JBSB at 86-pr. I mean, what's the point? ...Now, if it were to be cask strength...., but then you're competing with KCSB, so; again: Why Bother?

Because there's a dollar in it. Beam can do a one off novelty (Jacob's Well) and when the novelty wears off quietly discontinue it. They have enough stock on hand to make all sorts of stuff.

I don't think Beam's goal is enthusiasts with this product. I think Beam is targeting everyday White Label drinkers and hoping to convince them to step up on occasion. I'd expect the profile to be real close to the original JB.

Why bother? In regards to Knob Creek, I doubt the casual bourbon drinker even knows KC is a Beam product. White Label drinkers are a loyal bunch. A similarly labeled single-barrel has a better chance of moving them upscale.

Since I've yet to see a thread about this and after tasting I don't believe it belongs in the "Premium" section I chose this forum.

Just like reviews I get a whole lot of caramel and vanilla, can't pick up the oak.

All in all a very nice pour. As long as it stays under $40 I'll make it part of my rotation.

Oh, and for me no "Beam funk".

...but it's been dead for quite a while. I'm on a roll baby!

Seriously though, Google is your friend: "search term" site:straightbourbon.com

Lesson learned. Will do, thanks.

Cool. I'm not a Beam hater at all...it's what I cut my teeth on. Maybe I'll pick up a bottle if I see it priced right.

Thanks for the notes, TT. I like Beam whiskey, and even appreciate the Beam funk/profile. I also am a fan of the recent Beam Signature Series releases, so my appreciation for Beam whiskey has done nothing but grown. I look forward to picking this one up as soon as I see it.
