jersey12
I bought the Double Rye last week and love it! I have been told that Rendezvous is much better! I am waiting until the 15 to 20% off holiday sales start in December.Cracked my bottle if rendezvous last night and it is fabulous. Great syrupy mouth feel with a well rounded rye spice. Reminiscent of Saz18 if I had to give a comparable pour.
mbroo5880i
Still amazed when I read posts concerning sales. I have to assume these are large chains that probably get a discount on their purchases whereas the small stores out in the sticks don't. LostBottle
The 16 is a phenomenal rye and is easily the best high-rye whiskey I have had (which is many). The other bottle I always seem to grab is the Barrel Aged Manhattan, this stuff gets drained especially fast during Summer when I just stick the whole bottle in the refrigerator. I've resisted so far, due to cost and wondering if it could be as good as a homemade manhattan any of us could crank out. Is it quite a bit different than homemade? (And can that 21 possibly be worth the price tag?)Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Eskwar
IMHO - yes it is. Nothing else like it out there.Thanks. I'm tempted, no doubt. A Saz 18 slipped through my fingers recently, so I've got the itch for an aged rye, and the LS&B 13 seems less cost-efficient and less 'Murican. I imagine I'll get comfy enough to pull the trigger on HW21 about 5 minutes after the one I'm looking at gets sold.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

bjbronwyn
I don't usually bow to peer pressure...but when I do, it's thanks to SB. Pulled the trigger on the HW 21 today. Parkersback
My experience with High West products is pretty scant, but I bought a bottle of the Prairie Reserve last night, and I really like it. It's got that 4R spiciness and depth, but a bit sweeter. I think it's a decent deal for the $38 out the door I paid for it.
Trey Manthey
I was chatting with a HW brand rep last week, who mentioned that they are bringing back the OG Bourye label. He mentioned that the recipe would be changed, though. You heard it here first! Unless you didn't.

I wonder if this is the rumored new whisky they called "Bugjuice". Edited December 12, 2013 by ChainWhip

I always said "Bur-I" in my head but then heard the whiskey bitch call it "boo-rye" and at first wanted to smack her but then thought maybe I'm the wrong one. What say you? Josh
I pronounced it Boor-yee for many years until Lost Pollito gently corrected me. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
Tony Santana
I have no idea if it's right, but I always say "BOO-rye". Because its more fun to say that way. And I like fun.I've got a couple bottles bunkered, and one open on the shelf. Really like the stuff, don't know if they can top it with a new version. I think I know where I can still find some of the old stuff, may have to add another.
smokinjoe
Thanks a lot for that, fellas.... I've been content with my burr-rye pronunciation for some time. Now, I can't get the image of annoying dipstick Stuart Scott shouting BOO-RI!! out of my head.... Arrrrrrrrgh!!!!!
jersey12
Thanks all. Boo-rye it is! Glad to see I wasn't the only one confused by this.
RWBadley
I've only tried the 21 rye batch 1, campfire, bourye and son of bourye. Of these I thought the campfire a little odd. Mine had a fair amount of peat and it kinda blew my mind as for it's sense of self. The 21yo is quite wonderful by any measure. The two bourye are pretty OK, though I'd probably not pick either up again at the local prices of around $50. The 21yo I think I got lucky as it was only $80 for the 750ml a couple of years back. horn1602
I'm trying to identify a batch. I just picked up a Bourye with batch number 11H11 (Bottle 208). I've tried searching for this batch, but only see one reference to it in another post, but no explanation as far as what it is. Does anybody know? If I missed it in another post somewhere, sorry. Thanks in advance!
Trey Manthey
Not sure what information you are looking for, but I have a couple from the same batch.
horn1602
Not sure what information you are looking for, but I have a couple from the same batch.Sorry, guess I wasn't very specific. I guess I was just wondering how they numbered their batches. It's not terribly important, I just wanted to know what their numbering system was so I could tell where my bottle fell in the releases, or if it was simply a single release. camduncan
Hi guys, Ive recently come across the guy that imports High West products to Australia. The two Ive bought, tried and liked already are the Rendezvous Rye and the Double rye. Both are very similar to me on entry, with the Rendezvous having a longer finish, therefore getting the nod as my favourite so far. There are a lot more bottles for me to try, but you need deep pockets. The unaged stuff doesn't interest me, but im interested in what my fellow SB'ers think of the range and their favourites are? are their bourbons as good as their ryes? Thanks, Dan. Old Dusty
Next time I have dinner there I'm dropping $40 for a shot of Lenell's Red Hook Rye. Gotta be able to say I tried it, and from what I hear it is amazing!
