Has anyone tried or seen this? A buddy just picked up a gift basket that had one of these in it signed by Craig Beam at a gala in Louisville.

Available at gift shop only for now ($400). If recent history is an indicator, will be available at retail next year ($150-175).

I'm not sure what he paid. The basket also had a signed barrel head, two signed barrel proof ec12's, and a slew of sauces etc.

This is just getting ridiculous

The exponential price leaps for Elijah Craig have been amazing. I miss the days of EC18 for $45 bucks.

I don't miss EC18 at any price, for me the excessive age has transformed it into something of a different, wood dominant character. Oh, if it were $12.99 I would buy some but that would be for vatting with younger whsky.

I've only had one bottle (have another bunkered, saving for a rainy day) - I thought it was perhaps a bit woody but I still liked it. I've heard from others there was a lot of barrel to barrel variation. But still, there were very few 18 yo single barrel bourbons out there at that price point. No there are none.

I'm with ya Squire...except for some 1992 distillations which for whatever reasons are fantastic and have none of the nasty soot in all the others I had.

Absolutely. About a year ago, a store I visit at times had an entire aisle end cap devoted to EC18, probably 40-50 bottles priced $49. Over the holidays they probably sold a half dozen or so. A few days into this past January, I noticed they all suddenly disappeared....only to reappear in the spring for the bargain price of $99. Believe it or not, they sold out quickly...the same bottles that sat there most of 2012 for $49.

Thanks to that other site, no doubt. I was lucky enough to grab a bottle earlier this year for $55-$57 or somewhere around there.

you were the smart one. I kept funneling $$ into other holiday expenses and other more desirable bottles thinking 'well, I'll get one after New Years"....faulty thinking on my part....again.

I miss it! And curious what post fire EC18 will be like. There's definite difference between older and newer EC12, so when EC18 hits shelves again who knows what that animal will be.

Will it hit shelves again ? I was pretty sure they had killed it permanently in favor of extra aged ultra expensive product like the 20/21/22

oh yea, it'll be back, and probably only slight mark up from what it was... I'm guessing/hoping. They can produce high volume of EC18 if they want to, so that's no biggy for them. Look at what they sell jug of EC12.

Judging by EC12, I'm guessing the flavor profile will be somewhat similar to old EC18 but little stronger on the front end and less of the floral/fruity notes.

Out of curiosity, what is the barrel date the back???

Thanks
