oke&coke Posted December 5, 2013 Share Posted December 5, 2013 I would be shocked if there is not some allowance for inventory variance whether by theft, accidental breakage or mechanical malfunction.I believe there is. Again not 100% sure what the rules are but if the bottle breaks the alcohol is considered destroyed but if the bottle is stolen then the TTB considers the alcohol is consumed and someone has to pay the taxes. The distiller is completely responsible for it since they failed to protect the revenue. This is just from a rough reading of some of the liquor regs so I could be wrong altogether.
