Searched for a thread talking about it but didn't see one. Thinking about picking this up, has anyone tried it yet? Thanks for the help

I read something about it, but can't recall where. One of the Top Chef's guys collaborating with a distiller. It might be great bourbon, but it seemed like it was obscenely expensive.

I picked up a bottle a couple months ago.. $37

Its an easy drinker, but nothing special that warrants a repeat purchase

I picked up a bottle for $45 so I wouldn't call it obscenely expensive. Not cheap but less than the WT Forgiven and it is supposed to contain juice aged a lot longer than the WTF.

Yeah I read somewhere it had some 14 year old bourbon in it. $45 isn't too insane in my opinion as long as it tastes good. I was just wondering if anyone had tasted it. So far Phil is the only one I have heard who has tried it. Come on Renegator...what are you waiting for...crack that sucker open haha

I saw a favorable blurb about it ...in Whisky Advocate, I believe.

I haven't seen it around Downriver Detroit so far.... then again, not much of any real note is ever seen around here;

at least not many, or for very long. I kinda wondered if it was worth the premium as well.

Perfectly fine but pretty boring stuff, from what I remember. Haven't gone back to it since I first got the bottle.

I'll crack it open this weekend and let you have a sample. Who says peer pressure doesn't work...

Right on, I'll see how many bottles are left at the store today and if there are a few I'll wait on it until I taste it

Kind of what I figured

This stuff seems to be languishing out here. I have lumped it in with the WT Forgiven, Bulleit 10, Old Medley/Wathen's 12, and some others in that price range that simply seem overpriced to me. Hence, I haven't and likely won't buy it.

That's my list of bourbons I don't buy too.

I bought one to bring to a party, nice, easy-drinking, but a little one-dimensional. I left it behind and haven't given it a second thought since.

Bulleit comes the closest to being tolerable. With a bit more proof, a slightly better price point, and if you can get past the BS story behind Bulleit and their Diageo overlords, this could have been a decent whiskey. $40 or so for a well made 10yo Four Roses small batch of sorts at 100 proof could have been tolerable.

Instead you get 91 proof at $45-50.

That and the fact that great Four Roses options in higher proofs, with a decent amount of age and no BS story are pretty readily available and as a result much more appealing!

I did pick up one of the Jeff Chef bottles but haven't opened it yet. The Bourbon/Rye blend seemed like it might be appealing given the success of Bourye.

It's nowhere near Bourye good, that much I can assure you.

I am sure you are right. But then few things are!

I passed on a bottle of this yesterday. I was really tempted to buy it but decided against it at the cashier. I'm glad I did pass after reading this thread tonight.

I completely agree with everything in this post

I tried it at NY WhiskeyFest when I went to the Jefferson's booth. Actually I was looking for the Jefferson's 21, but they did not bring that. Tasting the Jefferson's Chef's Collaboration and the Jefferson's Reserve, I believe I liked the Reserve better.
