AnotherCigarGuy
Suffering from a cold...sneezing, throat felt "weird", etc.Went with some egg nog, warmed on the stove, with some OGD 100 BIB and nutmeg. Seemed to help. How 'bout you guys?
squire
I don't know if it helps in a medical sense but it makes me feel better.
AnotherCigarGuy
That's kinda what I was thinking. I usually drink neat, but just didn't "sound" good, the way I was feeling. Always remember that some swear by warm milk, so.........It did seem to soothe the scratchy throat, and I am feeling better, but may have been regardless? mbroo5880i
Oh no, it's definitely the whisky.I agree. It is good preventive medicine.http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=9E03E0D71630F93BA25751C1A9619C8B63I find that it helps to gargle and but not spit out bourbon when you feel like you are getting a cold. Richnimrod
My personal experience is that Bourbon makes me feel better whether or not I'm 'under the weather'. Therefor, drinking, or gargling without swallowing (I like that description!) is always the right prescription, Right?
marco246
I have found a cure for the common cold: a hot toddy. One shot of bourbon, one tablespoon of honey, one twist of lemon, and scalding water, taken before going to bed (but repeat as necessary) will banish the cold in about a week. Must be some herb that can be brewed for healing?
TunnelTiger
I can testify that after 8 - 10 ours being surrounded by turkeys a neat pour of Boubon when I first get home is very therapeutic. After a couple i'm back to being an eagle again. ethangsmith
All jokes aside, I actually use whiskey as a daily supplement. I've mentioned it a few times before on here, but it was actually recommended to me to drink a shot or two of whiskey each day to help my poor circulation. Not only does the alcohol slightly thin my blood, but it also relaxes my veins (I have a mild case of Raynaud's Syndrome). Any more than moderate consumption can actually exacerbate the symptoms, so it makes me keep my drinks in check. I've been able to stay much healthier and fight sickness more effectively- Rock and Rye is probably my favorite cold killer. It's wonderful stuff if you've never tried it! bjhowell
Well if I had to go without Bourbon I would likely end up in a bell tower with a sniper rifle, so I guess it would qualify as being good for the health of all concerned.
