I purchased a bottle this evening, out the door for $133. Does anyone have any notes on this bottle. Back when they were around, I passed on 17 & 18 yr expressions. Since I cannot find them anymore, I went ahead and snagged a 21 yr.

Yeah, i did a little googling and found some info. Trying to figure out if it was a good pick.

You won't really know that until you open it, and try it for yourself

I have purchased, and consumed, a bottle of this (not all at one time!). I thought it was good, but not great. For example, it could not compare to a 20 yr bottle of Willett FE I purchased at the Willett GS around the same time. IMHO the 17 and 18 yr JPS bottles are outstanding, and I have several of them in the bunker. I have not made any attempt to acquire more of the 21 yr, nor the new 25 yr JPS that is now available. If I am able to find a bottle of the 21 yr JPS Rye, I may try that, as I am very fond of ryes.

If I could find any 17 or 18 yr old bottles, I would buy them all.

I still see the 21 & 25 sitting on the shelves. At $129 & $ 159 I think they will be there for awhile.

I feel that M&K are pricing these new releases out of the range enthusiasts are willing to pay considering their low proof. There is just no way I'm going to pay over $125 for old whiskey under 100 proof. I think they made a big mistake watering them down.

Agreed. One would assume they are watering them down to increase number of bottles available?

I don't think they have ever released anything over 95-96 proof. Probably to appeal to more people and make more money. The same reason most bourbon these days is under 100 proof.
