ChainWhip
Oh I expect foreign buyers will target whatever overaged stuff the Jeffersons of the world can dig up.It's too much to expect the rest of the world to learn from the mistakes of the Americans I suppose. Virus_Of_Life
Like has been said, this is Jim Murray we're talking about. As far as I, and probably many others are concerned, he lost his credibility some time back. I can't recall all of them of late but Old Pulteney 21 year and Ardbeg Galileo come to mind as Whisky of the Year picks. :slappin:
squire
Oh let's be generous fellas, he did like Jim Beam Rye.
deathevocation
It's only a matter of time Squire. Some savvy marketing and poof, it'll reach "XO" status quickly. Plus, the bourbon profile is very easy to bond to - heck, anything tastes good after MaoTai/BaiJu.Spot on with the MaoTai/BaiJu!
deathevocation
I expect the real barrier has been cultural bias. Even in our own Country people who don't drink 'know' the best whisky comes from Scotland and 'only Rednecks' drink Bourbon.Same view of many people in Australia unfortunately. Guest
Same view of many people in Australia unfortunately.Very true. People for the most part like to be told what to think, and we havent been told to like bourbon.Rye on the other hand has a decent acceptance, probably because to say you like rye you dont have to say you like bourbon.I have had a few instances where hispter bartenders/hospitality scenesters (which I have ties to for better or worse) say things such as "dont like bourbon, rye is much better" ok then, What rye do you like? "It has to be rittenhouse"Sure buddy, whatever you say...
squire
I've known folks who dismissed Bourbon as being "a bit sweet" while sipping their sherry aged malt.
gcsjr
Yeah...wish he hadn't said that. Needs to be kept a bit of an American secret, lest the supply run short. :-)
