State of Texas Craft Distilling

Gotta to give some props to Texas Craft Distillers. Jim Murray in his 2014 whiskey bible has named Garrison Brothers Cowboy Bourbon as US Micro Whiskey of the Year and Balcones Brimstone as runner up.

Unlike those awards shows, I have much of respect for Jim Murray and I think this something both of these companies should be very proud of.

Balcones Single Malt made the crew say,"Mmm..." and the Brimstone made us say, "WOW!".

The Garrison that won the award was a limited release of their older bourbons called Cowboy Bourbon; I believe it was about 10 barrels batch. Brimstone, to me, is a love it or hate it proposition; it's not one I like but I appreciate what they are shooting for.
