mark fleetwood
Since HH is private, is there any way of knowing how sales of Larceny have been going? I frequent about 2-3 stores regularly and it never seems that the number of bottles changes that much. And the few discussions I've heard from store workers to customers about what else to try instead of MM, it's only ever whatever Weller bottles they have. I'll ask the stores next time, but wouldn't be surprised if they don't/can't speak too knowledgeably about it.
sutton
I wondered this myself since there seems to be a second round of rebates going out. I haven't seen the new rebates around me, but I'd be surprised if it isn't moving in this market. I prefer it to the other wheaters in that price range, and with the rebate it would seem to be a steal.
mosugoji64
On a related note, has anyone heard if HH plans to roll it out to more states? I suppose that may depend on how it's doing where currently available.
TheNovaMan
I'd love to be able to purchase a bottle, but it's not available in MI. The MI Liquor Control Commission controls what is allowed into the state, and I have to applaud them for having twice the selection of other control states and continually adding more, but the bourbons they've added are not ones I'm interested in trying. weller_tex
It doesn't seem to move too quickly here..but I love it and buy it regularly. It would do better if they would feature it in the store. Specs just got it, put it on the middle shelf a put new item sticker on the space. ryanc
I'm not a huge fan of the bottle... the juice inside is allright...appearance is everything and that bottle is not visually appealing. I know stupid...but for those that are not informed will not gravitate to an ugly bottle.

ryanc
I'm to have to respectfully disagree. I really like the bottle shape. It has the whole old school keyhole thing going on no matter what bottle size (750, 1L, or 1.75) and I like how it ties into the key on the neckband. I just cracked my first bottle tonight so I'm not ready to give a proper opinion on the juice but the initial impression is positive.
r60slash5
I'm drinking Larceny right now. I have a couple bottles bunkered. (Their not easily gotten up here.) +1 ryanc. The Larceny name has no value. Why not make it very special small batch Old Fitzgerald? It basically says that on the label. There's some name recognition, and the relationship to Stitzel-Weller would be a marketing boon these days. On the other hand I like it enough that I want to be able to find it So maybe it being a wallflower is to our advantage.Ted
ryanc
Each store around here has a ton of it on the shelf...I seriously think I am the only one in town that buys it.
Restaurant man
Up close the bottle is interesting...but for the longest time I only looked at from afar and it just never caught my eye for some reason. Weird I know. Not weird at all. Being in the bar business I was baffled by their presentation. (I like the bourbon by the way). How small are the words "Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey" in the label? Among the smallest font on the bottle (not counting the useless unreadable newsprint design. You would think the word "BOURBON" would be easily read across a bar!!!! They emphasized all the wrong stuff. If you want a lesson in brand building just look at a makers mark bottle. It tells you all you need to know. Nothing else. Larceny is the opposite. Wayyy too busy of a label. Ymmv but I doubt it
squire
I quite agree, the Larceny label appears muddled to me as if the only thing they're emphasizing is the brand name.
jersey12
I would agree on the busyness of the label being a detriment but stand by my earlier post that I really like the bottle shape.
cas
I picked up a bottle at Binny's yesterday on a pass through the Chicago suburbs. I think it's a very enjoyable mid-level wheater.

PaulO
We don't get Larceny here in Indiana. I wish we did. It's a big improvement on Old Fitz BIB.
ramblinman
I guess I need to pick up another bottle of this stuff, I got one during the rebate and big promotional push earlier this year and have maybe only had 1/2 of it with friends contributing to a lot of that. Maybe I had an off batch, but there was just nothing interesting to me and fell a little flat/tasted a bit hot compared to Weller.Have yall noticed any larger than usual variations in bottles you've tried? smokinjoe
I hope it is doing well for HH. I know it's doing well at my house! I've gone through several bottles. Best standard release wheater out there, to my tastes.
suntour
I'm also curious about how it stands next to modern Very Special Old Fitzgerald. I like that stuff but don't love it.
sutton
Although I only bought the promotional bottle, I did like it compared to MM (found it more balanced and more interesting) and OWA (which I found a bit hot). I'm not the best judge of wheaters though, since I probably only drink them 10% of the time and find I enjoy them more at higher ages compared to rye-based bourbons. I guess I would just be surprised if it wasn't doing well to the point where they are still offering these incredible rebates that amount to almost 50% of the price.I did get a single barrel of OWA that was bottled at 7 years since I've never found (or will find) older OWA when it was 7/107, so I'm thinking of getting another bottle of Larceny to see how it compares to this bottle. mbroo5880i
Since we don't get it in Indiana, I have only been able to pick up a couple of bottles. I noticed that I was *meh* on both bottles when I opened them. However, after being open for a few months, I found the first bottle very enjoyable. I hope to enjoy the same experience with the second bottle. At this point, I prefer it over MM (which too sweet to me), OWA (which is too hot and alcoholy) and WSR (which is too light). Geez, I sound like Goldilocks. Currently, I prefer W12 over it. I also prefer the SB Blend (the reason that I buy OWA). It just seems a little too light to me. Maybe a little more age or a little more proof would help.
mosugoji64
Don't know about bottle variation within Larceny, but I have noticed that HH wheaters seem to be improving all the time. Each bottle I get seems better than the last. I picked up an Old Fitz BIB recently that compares favorably to the handle of Larceny I've had for about a year. P&MLiquorsEric
They brought the rebate back. 20 on 1.75 and 10 on 750. It sells well in my store. It outsells the old fitz brands by a significant amount.

I just find it interesting to know how/if a new brand convinces competitive brand drinkers to try.
