squire
Yes, Beam Black is age stated at 8 years though that statement has varied a bit (6 years, 7, 8, 9 and 101months) depending to some extent on which market in the World it was being shipped.Heaven Hill still carry an age statement of 6 years on a BIB and Evan Williams Black label, Virgin Bourbon by HH carries a 7 year age statement.Ezra Brooks has 7/101 and 12 yr single barrel, Henry McKenna is 10 years SB, there are some others I'm sure these just come to mind. black mamba
Not sure about 1792, but a bottle I just bought this summer is AS 8 yo. Someone else said they had a NAS bottle.
smknjoe
Weller 12 is not a special release. That's just gossip. I can send you links to stores that have hundreds of bottles in stock if you want. Edit: just checked stock and modified my statement. 393foureyedfox
the above stated, plus the Heaven Hill 6 year 90 proof is about all I can think of.........which, for under $9, is a great deal

silverfish
Meant to ask this a few days ago.... what's left for age stated under $30?Why not start a current age stated thread (all prices) and then we can update it as they drop? We could include those who have passed (the recent VOB, earlier OWA, etc.) by checking previous threads. With such a list, someone here could probably chart a graph based on distillery &age to see who is keeping the age statement and who is cutting 'em. JPBoston
Fighting Cock is still a 6yr. Russell's Reserve is still a 10yr. Good call on the FC, that's one I should have remembered. Didn't realize that RR was under $30. Why not start a current age stated thread (all prices) and then we can update it as they drop? Kyjd75
In Texas maybe, but not here in central Ky. No Weller 12 to be found, and none available from the distributor (Republic). It comes when it comes, and it doesn't last long when it arrives. Weller 12 is not a special release. That's just gossip. I can send you links to stores that have hundreds of bottles in stock if you want.Edit: just checked stock and modified my statement.

Maybe you're thinking of 1783 (which is technically a black label)?Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk

What you describe is an isolated and/or regional phenomenon that is most likely caused and controlled by your local distributor. I'm not arguing that when they release it that it's not special to you (all). The only reason I'm even pursuing this topic is because I hear all kinds of crap from retailers and distributors alike that is just flat out not true. I was at one of my favorite liquor stores the other day and heard the manager telling a customer that Buffalo Trace was blended whiskey because only single barrel offerings were not blended. Excuse me for going with what I see... Which is W12 getting released once per year at the same time as BTAC. Hence special release. It does raise an interesting question: how many states get W12, and how "special" a release it is in each. At this point, OWA has become a double-secret special release. Not to be stocked in closer to 1.5-2 yrs from when it became unavailable. Same for the last 3 yrs.Sent from my XT907 using TapatalkW12 comes out twice a year now because: 1) it is distilled (roughly) twice a year; and, 2) it is in tight supply ---- so it is released as soon as it reaches the 12 yo mark. (Release dates in your geographic area will vary depending on where you are in the supply chain.) Other than that, it is not (what is generally considered) a "special release". MyOldKyDram
It's not a special release in KY per se, but it may as well be. I usually get mine in S IN, where it seems plentiful.
smknjoe
I assumed you were repeating some "fact" you were told by a rep. I'd be glad to help you find some if you ever need any. And to answer your question, Weller 12 flows through the streets of Texas like the Ganges coursing through the Himalayas.

And to answer your question, Weller 12 flows through the streets of Texas like the Ganges coursing through the Himalayas. That's because TX is a historically strong Weller market. With supplies being limited, you can be assured that BT will supply and protect that market share over other locations where they may be only an also ran. squire
Years ago I read or heard somewhere Texas was the largest market for Weller in the Country. I remember thinking when J. R. Ewing ordered his Bourbon and Branch the brand would be Weller.
smknjoe
I have heard that too Squire. One of my older brothers, who was a bartender here in the 80's/90's, noticed some Weller Special Reserve (paper label) I had sitting out the other day. When I told him that the older Wellers from the 90's back were really desirable he laughed and said that was what they used as their well bourbon. I think some places still do.
