I'm buying a case of 6 year green label 90 proof Heaven Hill. Then I'm gonna buy another.

I think this is one of those labels that has limited distribution.

My resolution is to do a better job hiding whisky purchases from my wife.

Excellent idea. She can obviously see my open bar, and the stash in the garage cabinets but she'll never go down to basement with the spiders and that is where I'm going to set up my "stockpile".

My main resolution for the new year is a visit to the Bourbon Trail in the fall for my 50th birthday, and saving enough to bring home some nice bottles from the gift shops. Already in the planning stages. Until that happens, I plan to enjoy and share more of my open bottles, and stockpile some that I'm concerned about becoming more rare or losing their age statements, like W12 and ETL.

The good news about the gift shops is that they sell special releases that you can't get anywhere else. The bad news is that they also sell regular releases for several dollars more than you would pay at a store down the road. Distillers tend to avoid competing on price with the good folks who sell their products.

I will second (third, fourth?) stockpiling the value pours and cut down on chasing the limited releases. I think a fall that consists of Stagg and whatever Four Roses has in store is plenty good for me.

I would agree here. Value pours, FR, and Stagg would suit me just fine.

I also am going to focus on locating and stockpiling more store barrel picks, especially ER10, OWA, Willett and FR.

I think you're right, Paul. IIRC, the HH green label in Indy is 3 years, 80 proof, and not worth its bottom shelf price.

My resolution...to start drinking some of my "stashed" obsolete bottles, such as centennial, WTRR101, ect. I have decided to enjoy them while I can instead of leaving them to my heirs to be mixed with Coke at some time in the future!

Very limited insofar as I can tell, I only know of one store that carries it, and if the occasion presents I will grab some while I still can.

I here highly resolve that VOB AS shall not have dies in vain -- that lower shelf AS bourbon, under rack right now, shall have a new birth of freedom (perhaps as "Tom Moore Ripe" or "Kentucky Gentleman Preferred") -- and that lower shelf AS bourbon of the people, by the people, for the people shall not perish from the stores.

you can hope, I'll continue to load up on AS cheap stuff before it's gone until the next whiskey glut

I'll second this one :toast:as well as adopt & adapt it for the New Year. What I don't want and/or can't drink, I'm going to sell or trade it for something I do and can.

Only to purchase unicorns. My wife is going to kick my A$$ if she finds my stash from '13 (50+ bottles and mostly dusties).

I resolve to bunker at least a case of Four Roses private selections. I'm jealous of Yeti.

I resolve to not buy any bourbon less than 8 years old of the ryed variety and less than 10 years old of the wheated variety.

If more people would do this than we would get good bourbon back on the shelves of your local store, granted it would take some time.

So until then it's bunker raiding time for me.

I resolve to end 2014 with no more than I begin it with (ie - keeping purchasing in line with consumption) Or, just giving away stuff I don't care for to make room

I want to better organize, store, and present my bunker. It has long overflowed from the house cabinets into the garage cabinets and now into boxes everywhere.

I want to build a nice and safe shelves or showcase for the bunker.

At the same time and although my wife know all about it, I am not sure if it is wise to present and expose it all in one view though. :)

I resolved to write everything down knowing full well I won't remember any of it or where I put the list.

Less emphasis on chasing limited beer and whiskey, and more emphasis on enjoying and sharing what I have stashed. Concentrate more on my hombrewing.

I think I need to go on a bourbon buying moratorium for a while and drink the stuff I've got...

Couldn't agree with more nd...the bunker is more then 300 large, totally ridiculous

I know I had a set. Now if I could just find where my wife stashed it ...
