suntour
I love thrifting and scouring vintage and estate sales and all that, always on the look out for interesting things. Got a 50's book about wine, cocktails, and beer called Grossman's Guide. Anyway I have had this for awhile and haven't spent much time really reading it. Tonight while going through it this popped out of the book: 5-year age stated 86 proof Jimmy Beam label! I suspect it dates from right around when the book was purchased, 1964. Really wish I could time travel to taste it side-by-side some of the young stuff coming out now and the NDP product. Curious if any of you have had it, either back then or recently. squire
Yes, quite a bit back in the early 70s, though the 5 year old in our area was the green label 'Beam's Choice'.Of course that was before Beam decided to launch Green Label Choice as the brand leader with as 8 year age statement, eventually changing the label to black. squire
Yes, but the green label today is a bottom proof mixer whose only redeemable feature is it happens to be a little older than the standard white label.40 years ago the green label was best of breed at a time when the honey barrels had not been siphoned off for small batchs, single barrels, etc.
