IBLSKeith
Recently I have been trying to buy a specific bourbon here in Maine. I know that it is sold here as it appears on the Maine Beverage Co. wholesale lists. Maine is a controlled state and all sales are regulated by the state. There is no search site on the Maine Bev. web site to tell you where the products can be purchased. I contacted the Maine State Bureau of Alcoholic Beverages and Lottery Operations. The Deputy Director got back to me literally in minutes! He said it will take him a couple of hours....but he will then send me a listing of every state agency store in the entire state that had ordered this bourbon!I find this to be amazingly accommodating of a state government agency.Keith

IBLSKeith
Well don't leave us guessing...what is it you're looking for?I am limited to what the State of Maine allows. I wanted to try the Weller Special Reserve as it is one of the few Buffalo Trace products that can be had in Maine.I am very new to this and having enjoyed Buffalo Trace I wanted to try one of their wheated bourbons. I received the list of stores from the deputy director in less than an hour. In his note, he mentioned that he too is a fan of bourbonKeith Edited January 7, 2014 by IBLSKeith

I miss the water sometimes, being out here in the desert. But.... that's what pools are for. Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk

DrBob
Also if you might try New Hampshire, when i was back east last summer I crossed over from Massachusetts and found stores conveniently placed and decently stocked just for the purpose of selling to out of stater's. mbroo5880i
I think WSR is a great one to try. If you like it you can always try Weller 12 or OWA. Good luck, I hope you enjoy it. It is really cold in Indiana but I always imagine Maine as being colder!

IBLSKeith
Using the list provided to me by the Maine State Bureau of Alcoholic Beverages and Lottery Operations showing every store in the State that carries Weller Special reserve....I picked up a 750ml bottle today. Considering that only four stores in the whole state have ordered the Weller....I found that the store RSVP in Portland had a good supply at $13.99 per bottle. I will crack it open later this evening after dinner. This will be my first taste of a bourbon without rye.Keith

If you go to www.mainebeverage.com and click on "Product Info" then type the name of whatever you're looking for in the Global Search field and then click the "Find it" link next to the product name, it shows you what stores have it. This isn't foolproof, the list appears to include things that nobody has, it which case no stores will appear in the list of results but it has helped me check whether or not I can try to find something at a local store. How does this compare to the list that the state gave you?
IBLSKeith
So let us know what you think.I tried the Weller SR last night and I find it a more subtle flavor than the Buffalo Trace I have been enjoying. I will want to explore it a bit more before I make up my mind. As a result of many surgeries I have almost no sense of smell left and I only get hints of odors. I know this has a great affect on my sense of taste, which is why I tend to lean towards things with an assertive flavor.Of the two bottles I now have in the house...I think I might return to the Buffalo Trace slightly more often. But the Weller SR will make a nice change of pace from time to time.Keith

They have a large selection and I expect I will be visiting them again.Keith
JPBoston
How random! My grandmother lives a few miles from DiPietro's (on the list posted above)... I remember that place well.
