AnotherCigarGuy
Just realised that I've never given any thought to this as I don't drink often enough to have to worry about price. I needed to pick one up to leave at the cigar shop and I figured I'd get an Old Grand Dad BIB but, alas, they didn't have. I promptly panicked and ended up getting an Old Forrester, since I found an OFBB and they HAVE to be the same, right? Anyways, IF you could only have one handle other then OGD BB, what would it be? IBLSKeith
Being new to the forum, could I ask what is meant by a "handle?"I looked on the abbreviation and acronym list and I don't see the term.
JPBoston
Handle = family size = 1.75L.My favorite available in my area would be EW: White. Most purchased being EWB.Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk
AnotherCigarGuy
See, here I thought I was being so "hip" using that term, as I'm relatively new, too.My understanding is it is a bottle with a "handle", typically a 1.75L one?
AnotherCigarGuy
I thought the white was the preferred EW. They didn't have that.

All 1.75L bottles can be referred to as "handles"... regardless of whether it actually has a handle or not. (But yeah, that's where the term comes from) Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk Edited January 10, 2014 by JPBoston
wmpevans
Handles of OWA and W-12, as long as they last, are my favorites. Great to use for mixing up SB blend, no matter what formula you prefer.

Every time I see my handle of W12 I get a little giddy up in my stride
Parkersback
As for handles, Heaven Hill BIB (6yr) if you can find it, though word around is that it is getting rare. In Kentucky I saw handles (neither of which actually had a handle) of EC12 and, if you can believe it, Weller 12. Those would both be great values. squire
For the purpose you mentioned a number of brands would do so I'd get the one on sale.
Conquistador
I buy my favorite handles by the case. Unfortunately, 2 of my top 3 are alas no more. Down to my last sealed handle of AAA10 Year and VOB BIB with the 6 year age statement, purchased as a case each. So I guess that leaves W12 handles as my favorite that I can still purchase (as a case or single bottles).
AnotherCigarGuy
Honestly, everyone mentioned sounds perfectly. However, NONE of those are available locally........ I saw an HH, but it was 40% ABV. There was Wild Turkey 101. Not anyone's fav?
dcbt
Weller 12 for me to refill my 750mL glass decanter.

Tony Santana
I occasionally see handles of ER 10 around here, priced in the mid-$40's. I like the bourbon, I like the price. And the bottle's pretty cool too.
Tony
I like the family size FRYL, wish they would make a family size FRSmB.Best regards, Tony

jwacky
JW Dant BiB is the only 'handle' I ever get. Don't see the Eagle Rare 10 much, nor any of the other popular answers so far.
smknjoe
OWA...not a BIB, but better. ...and I would think Turkey 101 would be a good substitute as well.
chrisg
I will put my vote in for OGD 100.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
ramblinman
EWBiB, just picked one up today. Good stuff, and really unbeatable (at least with what I have access to) for the price.
suntour
OGD BIB handle, only in plastic or glass too?I don't know why but I don't buy whiskey in plastic. Kept me away from EW BIB in the past.
weller_tex
Weller 12 handles..
Brisko
My favorite handles? Dickel 12 for $30 and Dickel 8 for $18 (not at the same store). They've been flogging the Dickels pretty hard here over the last month or so. On a regular basis I would get HH 8/86 (now dusty) in the family size and fill my decanter with it. I don't have shelf space for handles so it limits what I get.
sailor22
In no particular order - Weller 12, Buffalo Trace, Eagle Rare and OGD 86 if you can still find any on the shelf.
