On paper, EC 12 is better deal because it is 12 years old.

I would buy WT101 over it though.

I love em both so either way, you can't go wrong.

A lot depends on your preferences and the price relative to other offerings.

I prefer EC12. I think its age makes it a little more complex. However, I think WT101 is probably more consistent and "smoother."

Looking at price, EC12 is normally between $24 and $27 in my area, while I can easily find WT101 for around $20.

If you have never tried either, I might start out with the WT101. I would think that it would be the safest bet for someone looking to try something new.

This. I like the WT101 better as well, but I tend to like the turkey.

For $25 is Wild Turkey 101 or Elijah Craig 12 the better buy and why?

I would go with the EC12 as I much prefer it to WT 101. Only WT I like is Rare Breed.

Definitely the ec12 my favorite pour for a long time,(I buy them by the 1.75's) but with this bourbon boom the price has gone up from around $23 to like $29. Still I have the wt101 also just a little bit rougher for me,but still good.

I'm not an expert on either... but from what I remember of EC12, it was dark, unsweetened chocolate with lots of wood bitterness on the finish. There were several posts/threads that season regarding overly woody EC12 though, so maybe it's usually better balanced.

The WT101 I've had over the last few years is a nice balance of vanilla sweetness and rye spice. Not much barrel/wood flavor.

I'd give a clear edge to WT101... but really need to give EC12 another chance.

You are shopping at a crummy store if WT 101 is $25. They are not in the same price range around here. So EC 12 is my vote for the money.

I find them to be quite different. While I enjoy both, I would give EC12 a slight edge. If you decide to upgrade up the WT line, my opinion would definitely change, as I am a big fan of Rare Breed and Kentucky Spirit.

They are both bourbon, so they are both great! It depends on the day of the week and/or your mood as to which is "better". Nobody but you can answer that question. I can tell you that if it says bourbon on it and it comes from one of the major producers, it is worth having on your shelf.

Toss up for me - like 'em both with a slight preference for the WT. And they cost the same here.

I didn't like the new WT 101, tried it in Tokyo. So would pick EC12 but never tried it either. Lol

Could I suggest OGD114 :)
