KyleCBreese
I am looking to develop a whiskey based app, but I cannot find a complete database of whiskeys available. Does anyone know if one exists?
HighInTheMtns
Very, very doubtful. What sort of an app? Untappd style?
KyleCBreese
Yes, similar to that. There seem to be apps out there, but none that are social-based.
HighInTheMtns
Untappd didn't use some master beer DB; the social aspect is itself the DB. Any user can add a beer at any time.
KyleCBreese
You would use a database so when you go to add something you drank, it would come up as a choice (a pre-populated list). It just makes it easier to use, then having to manually add a whiskey each time.
MyOldKyDram
Do we get badges for broken Glencairns?
KyleCBreese
If there isn't a database, does anyone know of just a good list of available whiskeys?
dcbt
FWIW I find myself on proof66.com quite a bit. Pretty good list of liquors.

HighInTheMtns
You would use a database so when you go to add something you drank, it would come up as a choice (a pre-populated list). It just makes it easier to use, then having to manually add a whiskey each time.Don't gotta add it manually each time. One person has to add each bottling manually once. Obviously you'd want a decent list to start but the social nature of the app would guarantee that the list would grow organically. This is how Untappd works; just the other day I added a new beer... My buddy who was drinking with me just had to check it in. Edited January 15, 2014 by HighInTheMtns
KyleCBreese
The list at Proof66.com looks pretty extensive. That would be a good start.
rndenks
I was just looking for a decent whiskey/bourbon app today, and they all seem to stink. Can you hurry up with it please
garbanzobean
I tend to research Scotch Whisky more than bourbon, so I use this:http://whiskybase.com/
