dSculptor
Hey guys! I recently aquired a case of AAA10 yr old liters..(very dusty),& 2, 1.75's of vob 6yr, I gave 1 aaa to a bud, and also was going to pick up some more of the vob6yr (5 left) for him ,he wants to trade me straight up for 2 more of the aaa's? 10 yr for a 6 yr ? I do like the aaa much better, but can probably live with 2 less and thought of bunkering the other vob's since they're history.I guess I'll oblige him.Just wondering what your guys opinions are? oke&coke
Well since it's a friend you can always raid each others stashes so what the hell. Go for it.
squire
Keep the AAAs because the Barton or it's profile will be around for awhile but the AAAs will not.
squire
Of course it does rather depend on how good a friend he is but I was addressing which brand would be the most desirable to hold on to.
oke&coke
Very sound advice and normally I would agree but not in this instance. Not for a friend. Some things are more important then bourbon. Not many, but they do happen once in a while.

jonnyd
I like the Barton better than AAA 10Yr. Call me crazy, and maybe I need to try again, but I seem to like AA better than the 10Yr.
Quantum
When I make trades with a really good friend, I generally factor in the actual price paid, and the actual amount of work it took to get it. I don't factor in overall rarity, ease of replacement, or market value. Its the total value of his invested cash, time, and effort, vs the total value of my invested cash, time, and effort. If he spends a day tracking down a couple bottles of ELT that I couldn't find, and I just happen to stumble into a GTS, I would trade a bottle for a bottle straight up. Now this only applies to "would donate a kidney" or "I need 5 grand in cash in 2 hours, no questions asked" level friends. If you are just a "bail out of jail at 3 am" type of friend, you are going to have to deal with market value a little bit.
dSculptor
Well I decided that The trade was not a good one at this time, 1. Being that I had found both, with no effort at all on his part,2. I already had 2 handles of them already.3. After another pour of ea. , I really really like the AAA10,and can see it as a daily pour for me.4. Make him appreciate the hunt and maybe participate in it a bit more so he can work a little harder if he wants to trade. It's not off the table, but I will give him a short list of some attainables that I will trade for. Like maybe an ELT ,or a Rhf, both of which are fairly attainable. Also not sure about the donate a kidney thing, maybe the 5 grand cash, and bail me out at 3 am friend, I guess 2 out of 3 aint bad!

Quantum
I've never tasted an ELT...is that "Elmer L. Tee"? Yes, it caused much confusion while he was growing up with his much better known cousin. :70358-devil:
Flyfish
I really really like the AAA10,and can see it as a daily pour...AAA10 (unless it's 10*) could be even harder to find than an ELT.
