I have a few that stick out.

1. My first time tasting PVW 15, just because of the circumstances. In a control state the "waiting list" they tell you is years long, so I never thought I'd see anything but the 12. One day I went into the store and they were putting up a new shelf for "boutique" bourbons to try. Of course they weren't, it was Weller, EH Taylor, Rowan's Creek, Noah's Mill, and some other products. All great (expensive mostly) stuff, just not stocked by the VA ABC. I was getting ready to leave with a bottle of ETL when it caught my eye, two bottles of PVW 15, $80 some apiece. I asked the lady if I could get them, she said oh yeah, we just put them out. Turns out it was a mistake by the distributor to send them, my gain. I picked up one for me, and one for a friend. A fantastic pour for sure.

2. ECBP batch 1. Put plainly, I had never had a bourbon as high in proof that was so great on all levels. Definitely recalibrated my expectations for bourbons of a certain type.

3. (Out of left field) Laphroaig 10 - My earlier forays into scotch had always been highland single malts and such. My first Islay just blew my mind. I've been huge fan of Laphroaig and others ever since.

I found a dusty WT12 from the early 90's last year and brought it to my Dad's place. We enjoyed it after a hunt on a couple nights. To say it was extraordinary would be an understatement. I have had all of the BTAC series mulitiple times and the PVW through the 20 year old and to me, the WT12 was a perfect pour. The bold flavor was something I will never forget.
