Does Four Roses bottle all ten of their recipes as non-private selection barrel strength varieties? I've only seen barrel strength recipes called out as a private store selection (with a side label that includes the store/event, recipe and age), but just ran across this bottle at a Total Wine which looks generic. I assume its a FR selected barrel that is bottled and sold to anyone who wants it, just wanted to get clarification.

Interesting - never seen that. You would assume a place like Total Wine would take the time to have their logo on the side of the bottle. Hell, why give up that free marketing? I thought the private selections were only that, but curious to hear from those more familiar.

They'll pretty much let you put whatever you want on those labels. My bet is that it's a total wine private selection and that's what they wanted on there. Does it have the private selection sticker on the neck of the bottle?

Only other thing would be if the distributor decided to have a barrel bottled on their dime and offered a few here or there to different clients, but it's hard to believe that total wine would need to do that with as big as they are.

This was my first thought as well. I searched the Total Wine website and found that they had a private selection bottle available for $59.99, and at that price it is usually indicative of a private barrel strength selection. That's all I got.

Question on Four Roses Single barrel.. Does FR use the OBSK for their Regular Single Barrel.. I have three bottle of their 2013 LTD edition Barrel Strength and it states OBSK.. Somewhere I kind of recall reading that FR also uses the OBSK for their SB.. Thanks in advance.. Creggor

There were two threads inquiring about FRSB, and the FRSB label. FYI, I merged them into this one thread. The topics were basically the same.

For that matter if you just buy regular 100 proof single barrel how can you determine which recipe it is?

The regular every day 100 proof single barrel is always OBSV.

The Single Barrel Limited Editions vary from year to year on what recipe is chosen. Check out the premium section for a listing of the different years. Latest rumors/news state 2014 will be an OBSF if I read that correctly from another thread here.

Private selection barrel strength offerings are the only way outside of the LEs to try the different recipes individually.

Ok Thanks.. So my regular single barrel is OBSV.. Knowing that.. I can then compare this to the 2013 LTD OBSK and see which one we like better.. I am thinking of getting a barrel selected for one of our charitable events. Thanks
