Creggor
Ok Someone asked me what Mash Bill BT used for the E H Taylor Single Barrel.. I thought it was Mash Bill number one.. But am not positive.. I have been away from Bourbon for almost 10 years.. Starting back up and I want to make sure my answer is correct.. Thanks in advance for the answer.. miller542
per the whiskey tree sticky, its "higher corn" http://www.straightbourbon.com/forums/showthread.php?15005-Whiskey-Tree&p=396891&viewfull=1#post396891
p_elliott
My understanding is that it is in fact Mashbill #1 (lower rye). I don't have a firsthand source or anything, but it seems to be the general consensus around the web. I finished a bottle of it off recently, and I'd believe it.per the whiskey tree sticky, its "higher corn" http://www.straightbourbon.com/forums/showthread.php?15005-Whiskey-Tree&p=396891&viewfull=1#post396891You are both saying the same thing and you would both be right
shoshani
Just to further what p_elliott said, it seems to me that any brands owned by BT or Sazerac are going to be made from Mashbill #1. Anything made from Mashbill #2 is invariably a product owned by Age International. I'm guessing this is why we've never seen a BTAC expression of Elmer; it's neither BT's brand nor mashbill. I'll admit I've tried to like standard Buffalo Trace and just cannot do it, but E H Taylor Small Batch (I haven't had the Single Barrel) is mighty tasty. Proves to me anyway that the mashbill is only one factor out of many.
dcbt
Mash Bill #1 = high corn / low rye = EHT, BT, Stagg, ER, OC, Benchmark (I just can't abbreviate that BM)Mash Bill #2 = low corn / high rye = AA, ETL, RHF, Blanton's
