jonhalter
I did a search in the forum and all I really found was 7 pages of people arguing about this bourbon. Chuck seemed to be the only one who had actually tasted it then. Im trying to make friends with a new whiskey monger and he was pointing it out as one of his newer selections. At $25 is it worth a shot, even if its just to help develop the relationship? If its drinkable and $5 overpriced Im all for it. Any help would be appreciated. You're trying to develop a relationship that I'm guessing you want to foster in order to bring benefits to your whiskey buying in the future, and you're quibbling over 25 bucks? $25 on an unknown is about as low risk as it comes for such things... tanstaafl2
I thought it to be drinkable but it would likely be used as a mixer for me going forward. As for price there are probably better at $25 but taste is always subjective. Can't remember if $25 is what I paid for it locally but agree with Joe that it is a modest cost to help kindle a good relationship.
jeffrey r
I had it in my hands a couple of weeks ago, but put it back. I can get BT, EC12 and ETL for a couple of bucks more. Doesn't mean I'll never do it, but it is pretty young whiskey for the price.

He wasnt really pushing this one or even recommending it, just pointed out 2 or 3 that were new to the store since my last visit. Ive bought 5 OFBB13 from him as well as a few other bottles, and I only discovered this shop late Dec. Sent a fellow SB member to him from savannah to buy the TH Handy at msrp. I know $25 is an easy risk to take, and had he been recommending it, I would have purchased it on the spot. The question was more asking if it is drinkable. petrel800
Bruce, I want to say we paid 19 or 20 the day we tried it at Jat's shop. It's not bad stuff, I have mine open now, serviceable, but I've used it more as a mixer. Probably won't buy another, but don't feel like I got taken either. Makes a pretty good old fashioned.
